You want to bring your kid along while you walk, jog, bike, and cross country ski, but you don’t want to have a garage full of child carriers for each occasion. The Couger 1 Stroller chassis is the first step toward your one-can-do-all stroller.
*Only Available for Shipment to Lower 48 States.

  • Fold the weather cover over the top when it starts to drizzle
  • Large, tinted windows let junior see out the sides
  • Padded seat back, removable, hand-washable padded seat bottom, and five-point seatbelt system keep your kid comfy
  • Large rear storage bag holds kid-related necessities
  • Integrated helmet space works well when your child dons a brain-bucket
  • Quickclip on front cover allows for silent access to the child compartment if you’re transferring a sleeping kid from stroller to indoor bed
  • Tool-less set up and adjustments
  • This is a chassis only. Chariot Carrier conversion kits (not included) outfit the Cougar 1 for walking, jogging, hiking, biking, and Nordic skiing

I suppose that depends on your needs. The Chariot Cheetah, Cougar, and CX are all perfectly suited to those activities. The Cycling Kit and the XC Ski Kit are the same for all these models They all also come in both single and double configurations. So you'll have to decide how much room you need and how many features you want! And of course, the Jog Kit and Stroll Kits are also available.

The must have for active parents!

Have a kid - or getting ready to? You need this! The price was hard to swallow for a dedicated jogger, but in hindsight - I'd have spent twice as much. We use the jogging kit and the bike kit. Set up as a jogger it rolls straight and easy, very little resistance and a ton of storage space. Need a better workout? Load up the kid and all the associated stuff: toys, snacks, diapers, drinks and hit the hills. As a bike attachment it goes on/of easy, is very stable and doesn't affect the quality of the ride at all. Easy to maneuver, just watch the edge of the sidewalk!

But more importantly - the kid loves it. She has plenty of space, plenty of pockets for stuff - and a great view (better as a jogger than behind the bike for obvious reasons). A good comfortable seat and great harness keep her safe.

Folds down relatively small, ok, it is pretty big, but if folds easily. Parts are very durable. With a sun shade, a mesh screen and a clear rain cover - you can be out in any weather.

For those of you about have your first child get ready to be stuck in the house alot. As soon as the little one is big enough get one of these. They are expensive but you will never regret a penny of it. Sturdy, smooth and safe great product. We used ours every day for 3 years, in rain, sun and snow. Then sold it to the first person who looked at it for $200! Think the Lexus of baby stollers

By: Backcountry.com Employee
March 2, 2010

Chariot Carriers put together these great videos to help customers navigate their way through the X-Country Series. There are three models: Cheetah, Cougar and CX. As a new parent, these helped me make a good buying decision and hopefully they'll help you.

From Chariot....

Chariot bike trailers have been thoughtfully designed to be the most versatile bike trailers around. Stroll, jog, bike, hike and ski with just one carrier.

What I see are only new products? What does it mean: model 2006...2008

What I see are only new products? What does it mean: model 2006...2008 - isn't it rather obsolete? Does the set include all necessary accessories (pole with bracket clamp to fix to bike)? Possible to deliver to Europe?

The model 2006 and 2008 you refer to are indeed obsolete. That's why they are no longer available. The carrier shown here does NOT include any accessory kits, they must be purchased separately to allow you to customize the carrier to suit your needs. *Only Available for Shipment to Lower 48 States.

Fantastic purchase on my part!

So, for weeks I researched the differences between the Burley and the Chariot. I had a hard time justifying the price. I bit the bullet and dropped the cash for the Cougar 1 and absolutely LOVE it. Do does my 8 month old daughter. It was simple to put together right out of the box. My 9 year old did it in 5 minutes. My daughter was curious about it when she was placed in it. She is comfortable and now she gets soo excited to be placed in it. The materials are cool, sleek, and stylish. We look pretty cute crusin' through the trails/sidewalks. Its like you're not even towing anything behind its so lightweight. It turns right along with the bike. I was pleased to hear that my husband also liked it and wasn't giving me grief about spending so much for this. All 5 of us can go on bike rides together comfortably and without any concern for her safety since there are covers for every type of weather. This past weekend I was in Chicago and rented a Burley trailer. NO comparison. The materials and construction of the Chariot far exceed the competetion. Do yourself a favor and get this trailer. Its worth it and your and your child deserve it!

I just wanted to tell you that we've been using ours since our son was 9 months old. When he was 3 and talking, we found out that it's his "race-car." He absolutely loves it. At four, he still wants us to tow him around!

So happy to read your post. I made my husband read it and he asked "are you sure you didnt write that yourself." I have been doing research now for quite some time and agree the Chariot is the way to go. I want to invest in a Cougar 2. We went to go looking at them today and all my husband was seeing was $$ signs. However after reading this post we are going back tomorrow to puchase it and I'm so excited. I was also looking at getting one used but they're sold so quickly, and was having a hard time finding one. I am anxious to get out there so I'm buying new. I have noticed though that the resale value is quit good on the Chariots. Thanks for the confidence boost.
