The Chaco Women’s Backcountry.com Exclusive ZX/2 Unaweep Sandal’s double-strap design looks downright dazzling among your fellow river rats’ sandals, and the sandal’s two straps allow for extra precise adjustment around your feet. And of course, Chaco’s BioCentric supportive footbeds and grippy Vibram soles provide the comfort and traction for you to hike mile after mile. The extra bonus? Chaco gave this sandal coloring exclusive to Backcountry.com, so you can treat your feet to extra special style.
Bottom Line: One of a kind (well, you AND the sandals).
Nothing beats Chaco's. They fit great, they adjust to your foot. They grip well. Bought these for the GF and she got a 1/2 size bigger which fit perfect. If she were to have the size she normally wears then her toes might be right on the edge.
Chacos are the only shoes I now purchase. They work better than orthodic insoles my pediatrist provided to alleviate my plantar faciatis.
The only minor design flaw I find in these sandal, as well as other similar models, is that the strap you pull to tighten the sandal is too long (and I have thick feet and ankles.) I tuck it into the stationery ankle strap so I don't walk on it. You could cut it, I just can't bear to damage these great shoes.
I know this may sound scary but I've done it many times with backpack straps and bike helmet straps. You cut the strap with scissors and then where the ends are frayed, just run a flame (for example, with a cigarette lighter) near it and the heat neatly melds the threads back together.

I have had my chacos for 5 years now, and they have taken me hiking through jungles, swimming through underwater caves, and into the Grand Canyon. Can't wait to buy my next pair!
I ordered my Chaco ZX/2 Unaweep sandals after years of contemplating whether or not I was willing to pay $95 dollars for a pair. I had worn a pair of my friend's, and I knew I wanted a pair, but I wanted to find a pair that I loved before I spent the money. When I saw that these were on sale for $56.97, I nearly hit the floor! They're even my favorite color, teal! :) When I came home to find them, I immediately put them on and here I am a few hours later with them still on! I would definitely recommend these to anyone who is looking for a quality pair of sandals. I would gladly pay full price, But be sure keep an eye out on backcountry.com for awesome sales like this!
I ordinarily wear a size 8- and bought my first Chacos in a size eight about two years ago. I wore them on and off, but never felt super stable in them. I wore them hiking occasionally, but found that the back heel strap was not cupping my heel at all! The back heel strap is the only strap that isn't adjustable, fancy that. Just a few months ago I managed to snag a pair of size 7 chacos WITH Stealth rubber out soles -they discontinued them when they sold out to Wolverine Workwear- and they have been WONDERFUL! If you want more stability and are unsure of sizing or in between sizes, I would err on the side sizing down. For me, having a supportive heel strap made the difference between a so-so sandal and the rave reviews you hear from people.
So I ordered these and in some of the reviews, people said to order a size down because Chacos run big. Well, they don't. They run true to size, at least for me. So I'm returning these and getting a new pair. I'm glad it worked out this way though because I also discovered the Yampa sandal. It's the same exact shoe but lighter and not as clunky, which to me is more feminine and easier to travel with.
Ouch! These squeeze my big toe and pinky toes :( Do I need wide size maybe? I'm so sad because I love the teal and was so excited for my first pair of Chacos!
After listening to all my friends rave about Chaco's for years, I finally gave them a try. I'm a convert- they're by far the most comfortable sandals I've ever owned. I love the strap system, especially the toe strap. The fit feels very secure but not constrictive. Although it took me a few days to get them set right, they fit perfectly now. I don't find any strap slippage at all. The traction is great, especially for water and rocks (kayaking and hiking). Sporty but cute- very feminine looking- not clunky. I also love the arch support. Highly recommend!
I really wanted to love these sandals! I've been waiting for them to go on sale for awhile now. Several of my friends just rave about their Chacos so much that I was dying to experience them for myself...
Unfortunately, my experience of wearing them for a day squeezed my big toe until it turned red and left my pinky toes numb for 2 days! I guess the shape of my foot just does not work with these sandals (my heel is narrow and my arches are hight, but I guess the ball of my foot is wide). So I'm sad to send them back :( Especially because they looked super cool! I'm either going to try a wide size or go back to Tevas.
The Chaco ZX2 is the best selling style for ladies. Many feel it is more comfortable because the straps form better to the foot. Try them you will love them.
Love these! but they run big... I generally wear either a 7.5 or 8, and I ordered a 7, but they were too big. Sent them back for a 6, and they fit. I do think next time I would order a wide, though....
Love the support on them. I'm an over pronator.. and a photographer, so I'm on my feet a ton, and after a summer of wearing regular flip-flops my feet were killing me. I noticed a difference in the way I stand within a few days of wearing these. So worth it! I wear these for shooting all my seniors, and outdoor weddings... maybe some day I'll get a black pair for indoor weddings :)
I have a pair of chacos that I love but are too big. I'm looking to buy another pair, and I really like the look of the double straps. I'm apprehensive though because it looks to me like it would be difficult to get the toe strap out of the way when I don't want to use it (like when I'm camping and wearing socks) with the double straps threaded through each other. Can anyone comment on this?
I have the double straps and it does make it a bit difficult to adjust them when you wear them with socks but it's definitely still doable. It's still really easy to just push the straps to the side when you don't want the toe but it's a little bit more work to readjust them back to fit when you're done wearing socks. I'm looking to replace mine now because they're getting worn and I thought about getting the single strap ones but I think I'll go with the double again because I really like the look. hope that helps!
The shoe was actually a little too big, my heel didn't fit in the right spot of the sandal, so it was uncomfortable. I always wear an 11, and these I think I could have used a 10, and a Wide width. The straps adjusted well, (I've heard the toe strap can be really uncomfortable, but I adjusted it to fit comfortably) but if I had to return them since they were not comfortable on my foot. I wanted to wear them just for an everyday sandal, but I may have to order a different size! The shipping was quick from backcountry, and I could not beat the price! They even had my favorite color, which Chacos.com was out of! Thank you backcountry.com for being so great!
I wear a size 6 in regular shoes and I size down to a 5 in Chacos. I own 5 pair. Just so you know, when I buy heels, I usually end up buying a size 5.5. The size 6 Chacos are just too long.
Go into a good shoe store, and have them measure your foot on the Bannock Device. You want to ask them to measure your arch length, and buy your chaco's according to that measurement.
seriously, awesome shoes. great arch support, especially for a person with flat feet. I wasn't sure how i would like the toe strap, as i read some reviews that said they were hard to adjust and too tight. And I would agree that for one of the shoes it took a little pull and push here and there to get it to fit just right. but seriously love these shoes.
pros: comfortable shoe, strong arch and overall structural support, can run, walk, drudge through mud, these shoes are awesome. can make them dressy or just casual.
cons: it did take a little bit of extra effort to get the straps just right, but that's really my only complaint and it's not a very strong one. I feel like most shoes are like that.
I was just wondering if you guys had any more of the bright orange ZX/2 Women's in stock. The picture is still up on the website, but I can't seem to find them.
Perfectly happy with this purchase -- Backcountry.com had my size on sale in an exclusive color (pretty!). Chaco never fails to impress me with thier quality, craftsmanship, and customer service (I recently sent in an old pair to be resoled and they did a great job). As usual with Chaco sandals, I order a half size down.
Love these shoes so far, have not really tried them out on the trails yet, going to the grand canyon though and then we'll see. But I have to say these are the only sandals that I have found that gives me the arch support I need, AND they are so comfy. I wore them all around the house for a day and they are better than my slippers! BUT I think the straps even at their loosest are kind of snug. Maybe they will loosen up. I wear a size 6 and find they fit true to size. Would definitely recommend them!
I normally wear a size 09.5 in footwear. I own a pair of ZX/2's in a size 10.0 because they are available in whole sizes only and they are perfect. They fit me well in terms of arch support, heel, and overall length.
Given that I just got these babies, and I live in New England, I've not the opportunity to wear them. Straps are adjusted, tweek'd here and there, and ready to go. Seem to fit pretty well. I'm stoked to have a new sandal for Spring wear.
Sweet so far I got an 8 due to the reviews. I usually get an 8 1/2 so decided to go down to the eight than the nine. They fit! They are good sandals and will be great for floating the river to prowling the mall! They are basic the green and can be worn for along time really glad I got them!
Do these shoes come in medium and wide widths. I tried them on in a store and I don't remember a choice of widths. Other sites are carrying medium and wide .........what width are yours?
The ZX/2 does come in medium and wide widths but I am not sure what width it is for this site. To determine the width, the back of the heel on the sole symbolizes what width the shoe is (dots or hyphens). For example, if the back of the shoe says -7W- it stands for a Womens Wide in a size 7.
I bought these shoes for working summer camp and they were a great choice. At first I had a hard time adjusting the straps and initially I got a few blisters. It wasn't very long before I had the fit that was just right for me. They are really comfortable and perfect for hiking and trekking through streams. I also love the ZX/2 style because the toe strap is useful for helping me find my balance in all kinds of hiking situations. I definitely recommend them to anyone who is going to spend a lot of time outdoors or anyone who like a great pair of comfortable yet stylish sandals!
I love my shoes! They shipped fast, and were everything i could want from them and more. I have already worn my Chaco's for hiking, tubing down the river, rock climbing, and walking around Disney World for nearly 22 hours. They are the perfect shoe for any occasion.
This is my first pair of chacos and I'm pretty happy... I usually wear 7.5 so ordered size 8. The sole grip & arch support feels great, leaving a good amount of toe room for hiking and such. The double straps are a bit difficult to adjust evenly, but certainly make for the cutest style.

I have had these for a few months. They fit great, are adjustable, and easy to slip on and take off. They have great non marking tredd. They're great for boating and beach ware. Sand or small rocks fall out easily. The design is good for outdoor ware and for going out.
These sandals are pretty awesome. I've used them for everything from hiking on lava in Hawaii to pounding the pavement in Bangkok. The straps take a couple of weeks to work themselves out, so you have to do semi-frequent adjustments for that first little while. Also, the toe strap can sometimes get a little tight, but again, it adjusts to your foot over time. The straps are all very comfortable, and I've never had any chafing or rubbing. The sole is also comfortable and supports my high arch nicely. The shoes are a little heavier than my perfect shoe would be, but you get used to it, and the heavy duty sole is really great to have in rocky and/or sharp situations (glass, lava, etc.). I have the orange colored straps, and the color is quite attractive. Not brash at all. I'd highly recommend them as an all-purpose summer sandal.
hey, it looks like a pretty even split of people large vs small.
I'd say your foot width should decide it. I am a 6.5 but am a bit wider at the toe joint- so, the 7 is PERFECT. I'd say size up because they're so adjustable, BUT, If you have really narrow feet- than size down. Enjoy! they're awesome shoes!!
I am an almost exact 7.5 with one foot very slightly larger and I get the 8. They feel weird at first but I tried a 7 and there was no way they would work. I have extra room in the 8 but the straps keep the shoes on so my feet don't move around. I tried some without the toe strap and found they didn't feel as secure. Hope that helps but you may just have to experiment. =)
These run a half size larger. I wear an 8.5 and the 9s are HUGE and because of the way the foot bed is molded, a larger size won't work. What may work since you are between sizes is to get the wide width. I got the size 8 wide and they fit perfectly.
I'm in the same boat. But I got an 8 in this shoe and they fit better than the 7. I think I have fat feet too, so the bigger size is more comfortable on the straps too.
I have had my chaco sandals for 8 years and I still wear them regular, super comfy, durable and look good on the foot for sure. I highly recommend this sandal.
Is this shoe available in big kids sizes ? if not how does a womens size 5 compare with a kids size 3. Could they possibly wear a Chaco in a womens size 5 in a Z/2 or this shoes. Thanks
I may not of completely understood your question but I bought my daughter girls size 6 w-out the toe loop they have a sole that is so close in size to my 8's I can wear them. The kids shoe has a thinner lighter sole than women's and a shorter length of webbing. Basically I think womens size runs true and girls sizing a little big. Hope this helps.
I have had my Chaco sandals for 8 years and still find them on my feet regularly. They look good on, are durable and most importantly the most comfortable sandal.
I bought these for my girlfriend for her birthday and she absolutely loves them. She wears them around casually almost every day. She wanted to sleep in them the first night she liked them so much! She wears 6 1/2 or 7 size shoes and I bought her a 6 in these Chacos. They fit perfect!
This is my second pair of Chacos and I'm not a fan of the double strap. It's incredibly difficult to adjust and kept slipping around. I finally got annoyed and sold them on ebay. I had a Z/2 pair before and LOVED those because once you adjusted them, they stayed put and didn't hurt. Chacos are great and totally worth the money, but I'd go for a regular Z/1 or Z/2.
i love the style and the arch support. i have really high arches, and these seem like an extension to my food. the only problem i have with them is the 'big toe' wrap around. it's a little bit tight. i'm still trying to finagle my way around getting it a bit looser, but as you can imagine, if you loosen up one part, another part gets tight. over all though, they are awesome, and i'll keep them for all my hiking ventures. happy shopping!
I love this sandal. I have many friends who have chacos..and I have always be skepitcal to buying them. One was the cost and two I didnt think they were very attractive. Now that I have them neither of those things matter. Its quality foot gear! I love the toe strap and the smaller straps on this design are a bit more feminine. Don't hesitate to buy this product. You won't regret it.
At first I was skeptical about spending so much on a pair of active sandals....but after seeing many people I work with wearing them I decided to take the plunge. Initially it took me a few days to break them in and I worried that they didn't fit my foot correctly. After a good few days of use they fit perfectly! I'm so happy with them and would recommend them to any friend. (I also like how feminine they look)
I was desperately searching for a pair of not-hideous-but-really-comfortable sandals to trek around in while tailgating at UT games. We tailgate at LEAST two miles away from the stadium and cute flip flops tear my feet to shreds. I chatted with a backcountry person who recommended these sandals. They are FABULOUS. I have walked around everywhere (outside of work) to get used to them without any complaints! The texture on the bottom took me a little while to get used to but doesn't hurt. Love them!
I've had my zx/2's for almost 2 years. I wear them nearly every day in the summer. They're kind of a pain to adjust though; but once you fit them to your feet you don't have to worry about it again. These Chaco's are really comfortable! The double straps contour really well.
Probably not the best for hard core hiking (no foot protection, not the best support). But for just casual summer activities (casual hiking, walking, biking, etc.)
I also wore these everyday on my trips to rural Haiti (lots of walking, scouting, and trekking through rocky creeks/rivers.)
I like the comfy foot bed and vibram sole, but I'm not sure about the straps. The portion of the strap around my big toe tightens during climbing approach hikes, and it gave me blisters where they contacted my big toe. It seems the straps need adjustment every time I put them on because of the issue of tightening around the big toe. I've only owned the sandals for 4 days now, so my opinion might change. Perhaps over time I'll find a way to make the toe strap not tighten and my skin will toughen up so I don't get blisters.
I love my new Chaco's!! I'm on my feet all day in a waterpark and they are amazing! At first, they rubbed the top of my big toes and heels because I was not used to having parts of a shoe there, but once I got past that short "breaking in" period, they've been great! My feet are never achey at the end of a long day and I now wear them in place of my beloved flip flops all the time. I sometimes have flare-ups from plantar fasciitis but these completely alleviate it. The arch support is great and the shoe cups your heels. They are super grippy too! The last thing I'm thinking about all day are my feet when I wear these, they are awesome! You won't regret the investment =)
I have flat feet and wearing my Chacos I can walk all day with no problem!! What's ebst is being able to throw them in the washer and they look brand new!!
I just bought a pair of chacos but I also am flat footed and think I might should get the wide width. The inside of my feet roll inward so the inside arch of the shoe is somewhat digging into my supposed to be arch. What do you think?
im really disappointed in you guys for not considering us with the wide feet when creating these pretty colored chacos. i want cool ones too! all the ones that come in wide are BORING.
I tried this brand on in a store, different style. I order the style I wanted, it was too big. Shipping was free and but not the return - wasn't willing to pay for postage again.
Nothing beats Chaco's. They fit great, they adjust to your foot. They grip well. Bought these for the GF and she got a 1/2 size bigger which fit perfect. more...
