I have a lot of different pairs of Chacos, and I believe that the Z/2 Unaweep are the best kind that I own. They are great for just hanging out as well as running, hiking, and trekking down a river. They're the greatest and most versatile pair of Chacos that I own, and all Chacos are versatile!
Love this shoe

I've waited to buy these for years, trying to justify the expense for sandals. But these aren't just any sandals, my friend. They are worth every penny! So comfortable and versatile - I like them much more than my regular shoes.

These sandals are very comfy! I like how the straps can be adjusted to fit my feet. They arrived just three days after I ordered them. Back country is an awesome company!

Everyone at the local crag has these shoes, and eventually I broke and joined the club. They sized about half a size bigger than my street shoes to fit well. At first I thought I wouldn't like the toe strap, but so far has worked pretty well. They took some adjusting to get the strap to fit right, and to build up callouses around the straps and where the heel of the shoe rubs against the foot. A month in, they're super comfy and require little adjustment. One issue, there's a bit of extra strap left past the buckle that can drag on the ground. I cut the webbing shorter, and then folded it over itself. With a little sewing, was good as new.
Overall, great shoes. Plus, a great tan line to boot!

So what is the width difference in the 9M and the 9W. I got a pair of 9medium and the outside of my foot opposite of arch hangs off just a bit, but the rest of the width is fine.

I can't give you specifics widths, but with my experience with Chacos, they run pretty narrow. My friend (she has slightly wide feet, but pretty average) has a pair of wides and they fit me well. I would try exchanging for a wide. Or if you are unsure and you have a shoe store around you, go and get your foot professionally fitted. They will know what size you should get and it will make buying shoes online easier.
Not a good fit ;-)

The sandals don't fit very well if you have a wide foot. The concept is nice but I wore my chacos for a three weeks and by the end of the day I had bad sores on the inside arch area of my foot. Were the strap and the shoe meet it would rub my foot raw and I tried to break them in but it did not seem to matter. I just think they are good for a wider foot :-(
Beautiful and comfortable Chaco

These sandals are great, super comfortable, light and very pretty. Got the ones in red (Chilli) and they look amazing. Ordered them in size 8 and they fit perfectly even though I use 8.5 in Keen. Totally recommend them.

I tried Eco, Teva and these, I really liked these but the salesperson said my left foot looked too wide so I left very sad after 2.5 hours trying shoes. They didn't offer wide...the heel bed of reg width was fine, is the "wide" size wider everywhere? or more in toe bed please

I have skinny feet and they take up pretty much the whole footbed of my Z/2s (actually wearing them as I write this). I'd say that if they fit and were comfortable, go for them. There's a good chance the salesperson didn't know what they were talking about, and you can't go wrong with ordering them from backcountry. Best site, customer service, and return policy.

The Chaco footbed in the wide width is wider through the whole foot, and the straps are a little longer to allow for more foot volume.

I know this is way late to respond but could you wear a man's size? How about trying a mans Chaco in the regular or wide width?

I just love them. They are super comfortable, I use them as much as I can to go everywhere. The straps are great, you can adjust them as you need, so when I finally got them right, I haven't had to adjust them ever again. They are great quality, great purchase, my feet love them. I usually use 8.5 in Keen but for these I ordered them in size 8, they fit perfectly. Totally recommend them.

When I first bought my Chaco Z/2, I fell in love with them. The arch support was unbelievable and my sandal was so comfortable I didn't want to take them off. I wear them daily to walk around campus at a urban university while carrying an extremely heavy backpack, and my Chacos never fail to make my day go by easier. I did recently wear them on a 6 mile hike, and I ended up with TERRIBLE blisters. I had a few blisters on each of my heels, and even blisters on top of my toes. I'm hoping I just need to break them in more, because other than the blisters, my Chaco's made it easy to hike through any type of terrain.

have yet to break these in, but they really don't need it. very comfy, the adjustable straps rock. true to size, width is good. i ordered the brown sole/red striped straps from the clearance section...thought it might look weird but the soles look black, you'd never know.
can't wait to test 'em in water.
