After yet again blowing out another pair of flip-flops, turn to the Chaco Men's Z/2 Unaweep Sandal. This bomber sandal has a 360 degree Wrap-Fit adjustable strap, a toe loop, and heel-leash for superb stability when you trudge through a slippery creek, campus, or your campsite. Plus, you won't have to worry about the Unaweep's soft, durable polyester webbing blowing out on you anytime soon. Chaco also gave this comfy sandal a Vibram outsole with all-purpose TC-1 rubber compound so you can easily move around on your buddy's fishing boat or play around in a field of boulders.
Eight years after purchasing my first pair I decided to pull the trigger on a new set of Chacos.
While it is sad to see the company make the decision to move to outsourced production for their footwear, the new shoes seem to have the same great quality and comfort that I expect from the brand.
This is the first time I've opted for the toe strap; while it took some getting used to, I have come to rely on it to keep my foot firmly planted in the sandal during more rigorous activities. The BC exclusive color way is pretty darn nice looking to boot.
I started off on a 70 mile thru hike of Glacier national Park with a new pair of 200 dollar hiking boots. They ended up killing my feet and by mile 7 I was wearing my friends Chacos. Man these really saved me. I did the hike in the originals without the toe strap got back and immediately bought a pair of my own but ended up buying the toe strap version instead. They are very rigid and yet comfortable. They will not come off your feet. This also makes them hard to put on, but that is a trade off. I would prefer not to have the toe strap looking back on it but love these all the same.
I wear 10.5 in most tennis shoes. I bought size 11 and they fit great. I would echo the previous comment that you should try them on and that sand can get in between the straps and skin and cause chaffing. I hiked through Northern NM, Utah (around Lake Powell) and several trails in TN--the sandals are great!
I would definitely go and try them on. They can be fit weird, and if you don't get the right size, your feet will pay for it. It's definitely worth trying them on and getting the right fit.

Great Sandal, SIZE DOWN IF YOU ARE A HALFER! I had a hard time figuring out which way to go on this model and I am exactly an 11.5 shoe size and the 11 is perfect.
I've been we wearing Chacos for years. The company is great on repairing and fixing them up after they wear out, so if you want to pay for repairs, you essentially don't have to buy a new pair. The newer chacos (past few years) however, are mostly made in China.
They're Chaco's, nuff said. The are designed at water sport sandals with very wide tread on the sole but can be worn around anywhere. They take a little getting used to, especially if you dont usually have something looped around your toe, but they are durable and great for recreational activities. I even play Ultimate in them.
These babies are really comfortable. I'm an avid runner and usually I wear really lightweight running shoes/racing flats around. I bought these and they weigh a little more, but they are definitely just as comfortable. You can do just about anything in them, I've done some moderate rock climbing and mountain biking in them. The only problem is the big toe strap likes to tighten up and cut off the circulation and the excess nylon was dragging on the ground so I had to cut it and just melt the tip with a lighter. Overall, no regrets.
One solid sandal. Took a day or two to get used to 'em, but I love them! Great for a quick day hike as well as floating the river. I would definitely recommend this shoe to any of my friends.
Can't beat this sandal. I will own a pair of Chaco's for the rest of my life now! They are great for everything - travel, hanging out, climbing approaches, hiking, and pretty much anything else you could imagine. The toe starp takes a little bit to get used to and the tension can be a slight nuisance to adjust but once you find the right spot you will be amazed!! You can do pretty much anything with this sandal - only down side is they are somewhat heavy for a pair of sandals, but that can be expected for all the support the sandal provides. This was my first vibram sole shoe, and I instantly fell in love with the material, it performs super well under a variety of conditions.
I've had several pairs of chacos and these are by far the most comfortable and seem to not get as stink as my previous pairs. I love them and wear them all the time. I would highly recommend them to a friend or a collegue or a puppy or even a puppet.
Bought a pair to replace the ones I received 5 years ago as a gift. The soles came off the first pair but I have to say they were put thru a lot. Like the toe loop and arch support.
Almost returned 'em. The toe strap, how does that work without grinding my toe off? Glad I didn't. Took other reviewer's advice and wore them for a week. Now my wife bitches that they are all I wear... you'll be glad you bought 'em.
I was debating between the Chaco Z/2 and Keen Newport for a good all terrain sandal. When I found these at such a great price I couldn't pass them up. Definitely no buyers remorse here. I couldn't be happier with my Chacos. Great support, nice snug fit, good traction, and a lifetime warranty. What more could you ask for?
I ordered them a couple weeks ago and went with 2-day shipping because I was that excited. I have worn them every day since I received them and couldn't be happier!
I have heard that they can be uncomfortable in the beginning because they have high arches, but I didn't have a problem. The only problem might be adjusting the straps for a proper fit, but just follow the instructions and it shouldn't take too long. I wear anywhere between a 10 and 11 in street shoes, and the size 10 Chacos fit perfectly.
They are comfortable and practical for everyday walking around as well as hiking. They are easy to get on and off, which is really nice when I'm on a climbing trip and I need to switch from my Chacos to my toe crunching climbing shoes.
I am going to wear them even into winter because I love them so much. I don't care if it rains or snows, I'm still wearing them.
These are the best sandals I've ever owned. Chacos take a little time for some people to get used to (including me- it took a couple weeks of wearing them constantly before I liked them), but now I love them. My biggest problem at first was the super high arch, but I did get used to that. The soles are pretty rigid--not a lot of cushion--but they are very sturdy and plenty comfortable. In my experience, they run on the large side (I wear 10.5 in normal shoes, but 9 in Chacos). They are a little heavier than some sandals, but again, they're sturdy and you get used to it. I've owned Chacos both with and without the toe strap, but I recommend the toe strap hands down. It makes your foot feel way more secure. In short-- buy these sandals! They're expensive, but they'll last miles and miles. If you don't like them at first, don't give up right away, because you might end up loving them.
I bought these as a replacement to some cheap flip flops with the intention of wearing these all summer. After the first day I was sold. They fit very true to size and are very comfortable right out of the box. Because of the arch support they rubbed on the sides of my feet for a couple days but then I got used to it. Takes a little while to get used to the big toe strap but it's definitely worth it. Overall great buy and from what I hear they will last a very very long time. I already have a tan line from wearing them nonstop!
The Z/2 is a great sandal for just about everything. I love the vibram rubber for grip coming out of the water as well as short hikes in southern Utah. They are extremely comfortable but rigid so they fair well on mildly tough terrain. The straps wear well and are soft so blisters have never been a problem. I normally wear about 10.5 in most shoes and the 10s were a great fit. After adjusting the straps my feet fit perfect.
I started off on a 70 mile thru hike of Glacier national Park with a new pair of 200 dollar hiking boots. They ended up killing my feet and by mile 7 I more...
