Chacos Z2

Comfortable and a great fit. Just what I needed. I highly recommend Chaos.

Best sandals hands down.

My original Z2 sandals I’m replacing were bought in 1998, they will be missed. The new ones do weight a lot less!!

New kind of freedom.

Fits like a glove only it’s a sandal. Comfortable and really grabs my feet. Unlike some others my foot stays in the sandal even over rough terrain. No slipping forward and out.

Comfortable and versatile, even for a bad back

I tend to wear nothing but Chaco Z2 sandals for 9 months out of the year! (And I live in Wisconsin, so that means wearing them even in cold weather.) I have some chronic back issues, and Chacos are one of the few shoes that don't aggravate the pain.

I own 4 pairs

Except for the dead of winter (OK, I live in a climate classified as "cool mediterranean") and DEFINITELY when I travel south, I do everything but sleep in these sandals. I took a pair around the world once. The best thing for rocky beach exploration, fossicking (I'm a rockhound) a muddy reservoir edge, and great for river rafting. they look great and you don't feel as under-dressed in a restaurant as you do in flipflops.

Blue Chacos

It fits good but I have to constantly adjust the ankle straps. I’ve NEVER had to adjust any Chacos I’ve worn. They fit great otherwise. Have a second pair in the closet when I wear these out.

Good all around sandal

A good all around sandal that can take whatever you throw at it. They handle water and sand just fine. With the straps tightened, they stay on my feet in knee deep mud. I've hiked plenty of mountains in these as well. The toe loop does creep a little but with some patience it eventually stays in place. The foot bed does a good job of supporting your foot as well as maintaining traction when your foot gets wet. The tread on the soles has held up so far, last pair I had the straps wore out before the soles did.

1st Chacos

The foot bed it great. The strap tend to self tension so I find myself loosening them a couple times a day. Got a couple blisters first couple of days but none since. This is my first pair of non-standard flip flops. I got them from work so no problems. I wouldn’t hike in them.

So well pleased

I had a bad experience with a competitor's sandal because of the edge of the toe strap cutting into skin due to abrasion. Close-up full motion shots of the Chaco sandals where shown in a Camino de Santiago documentary "Walk through Fire." They were convincing and I decided to give it try on a hike through trails in Maui. I am so pleased with feedback of the cushion to my heels, not gummy, not stiff, just the right amount of cushioning. The front insole was supportive and does not resist the rotation of the ball of the feet in the walking motion. The adjustment of the toe straps took many attempts but once the proper tension and give is attained, you do not have to deal with it ever again.

new versus old

I have two pair of older Z2s both with vibram outsoles, one pair is ten years old the other about seven. They are remarkably comfortable and durable, with a lot of life left in them. I recently received a new pair of Z2s, with the Chaco outsole. The new sandals seem to be high quality although the outsole is not as thick or rugged as on the old ones and the straps are thinner and more narrow, meaning that the ability to easily slip the sandals on is a bit compromised. Overall, it seems that the new sandal, although still effective, is a lesser design, one that will likely. not last ten years.
