Whether he is ready to take his first river trip or you just want to give him a rugged, supportive summer shoe, the new Chaco Boys' Z/1 Sandal is what he needs. These sandals have a polyurethane footbed that won't break down, so he'll have these sandals for as long as they fit. The footbed has a heel cup for shock absorption and arch support so he walks and runs without overpronating. The grippy rubber sole lets him scramble over rocks with ease. The Boys' Z/1 feature the same adjustable straps as the adult version for a solid fit—he can trek through mud, and his sandals won't get sucked off. Chaco gave these open-toed sandals a stretchy buckle strap and pull-on loop so boys can get them on without help.

Bottom Line: He'll be at play in his comfortable, durable Chaco Boys' Z/1 Sandal all season long.

As a young outdoor enthusiast I value weight and quality. This are low in weight and high in quality! Very light and foot-bed is comfortable! They are pretty easy to slip on and they look just like my older brothers! These prove that the best is not reserved for the adults!

Narrow

I purchased these for my sons (7 and 10) 1/09 on sale. I bought them a size larger than what they wore in Sept. hoping that they fit this summer. They seem a bit narrow. This is great for my older son, as his feet are very narrow. But they are a bit tight and long on my younger son. They are a good price, so I am keeping them in the hopes that his foot grows. But, I don't know about the narrowness. There is no way to adjust the width over the top of the foot

My 7 yr-old son has stinky feet (despite my best efforts!).

My 7 yr-old son has stinky feet (despite my best efforts!). Last summer we had Stride Rites and by the end of the season they were toxic. I've read also that Keens get stinky, too. I'd like to know how these fair in the "stink" department.

Katie,I have had Keens and Chacos that have smelled normal after years of use. At the same time I have had friends whose footwear smelled pretty rank after one season. The trick here is don't ever let the skin build up on the foot bed of the Chacos. Continuous maintenance / cleaning will keep the sandals from getting that toxic odor you described. My favorite trick is tossing them in a plastic bag and placing them in the freezer overnight. There are other things you can clean them with like vinegar or baking soda, if you are interested in finding out more do a quick search on the internet. Get you son these Chacos. They are easy to clean because they are so open and the support and comfort they provide is incomparable (I have 5 different colors in the flip and 1 pair of Z1s).Mahalo, Sumo

Just like the grown-up kind

Same quality materials, build, comfort; these big-boy Chacos are the real deal - and more! After all, the "men" don't get handy pull straps and glow in the dark logos! My boys love these out and about, from the pool to the river, the yard to the trail. Sure, flip flops and Crocs slip on easier, but these are Chacos - you know, the Cadillac of sandals! One thing: These are really big, so get one size smaller for your kiddie.
