Best shoe ever!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I had been wearing an orthotic for several years before I found chaco sandals and then chaco Torlan Bulloo shoes. The great ergonomic footbeds mean no more orthotics for me. I love the wider toe box in the shoes as well. It gives your toes the freedom they get while wearing sandals. I have somewhat narrow feet and the shoe can be laced so it fits like a glove, but due to the design, I think it would also fit people with wider feet just as well. This shoe is also very light for a shoe you can day hike in. I'm on my second pair and am considering buying a couple of spare pairs just in case they stop making them! Great service from Backcountry as well!

Great walking shoe for travel!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought these shoes at nearly the last minute before leaving on a 10-day vacation, since I wasn't sure if any of the shoes in my closet could hold up to all the walking I had planned. These shoes were very comfortable right out of the box, and did not need much, if any, breaking in. I used them in rotation with a pair of New Balance sneakers and a pair of Teva sandals, and these were by far the most supportive shoes for my relatively high arches. The laces weren't quite as secure as the description claims, but once I got a feel for the tightness I liked, I was able to double-knot and had no problems with laces coming undone. I was hesitant about spending $100 on a pair of shoes, but these fit so perfectly and seem quite durable, so I have no regrets!
