Outdoor chic meets cozy comfort in the Chaco Women's Barbary boot. Whether you're moseying around the campsite or headed downtown in a light drizzle, the waterproof full-grain leather upper deflects moisture while the variegated wool and fleece lining keeps your feet warm and comfortable with every step. The pigskin-lined LUVSEAT footbed paired with an injection-molded nylon shank helps absorb the harsh impact found on the trail, and the EcoTread rubber tread grips slick rock, roots, and cement.

Stylish and Stable but Could Be Warmer

I get a lot of compliments when I wear these boots - even though i honestly feel like I can't figure out what to wear them with. When I wear them with jeans, the fabric on my pants gets awkwardly bunched up around my ankle due to the height of the shoe. Even when i try to tuck my pant leg into the shoe, my pants will not stay in. I mainly wear leggings with them or just accept the fact that I'm not a fashion model and embrace the weird jean bunch.

I would say these are pretty comfortable - definitely keep my foot secure inside - but I can see how some people might think the toe box is too narrow. It's not uncomfortable to me, but definitely not a lot of room to wiggle your toes.

The boots have kept me stable on icy and snowy roads and have kept my socks inside dry when having to cross through snow banks to get to my car after snow storms.

My only complaint is that I really do not think these are very warm. Even with wool socks on, my toes are still chilly by the time I get to the office - not unbearably cold like when I wear vans - but definitely not warm.

Other than that, it's a cute shoe that works just fine for me!

    Eh....

This is a tough review to write because aesthetically, I absolutely love these shoes and they're comfortable but in regards to quality, I have my reservations. Part of the upper began pulling away from the sole on the right shoe (and not the left) after a couple weeks of casual wear, which is a bit suspect on a pair of $100+ shoes. I imagine it's a manufacturing defect but have not heard back from my gearhead about how to proceed (i.e. go through backcountry for a new pair vs reach out to Chaco directly).

Other than that though, the shoes are great. They're functional (i.e. warm in these cold MN months), comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. As other reviewers have mentioned: the toe box is narrow and order a size down. I usually wear a 7 and sent them back (heel was slipping too much) for a 6.5, which still accommodates a thicker sock. The Nickel Gray is a really versatile color.

    Narrow toe box

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

Very narrow from the ball of the foot through the toes. I did not expect that from a Chaco product. If your feet are more square or blunt rather than angled to the big toe, these will not be comfortable. I wanted to love them, but there was no way that was happening.

    DOWN RIGHT THE BEST!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

You CAN'T go wrong with Chacos! These are fantastic! Comfy, cute, warm look great with pretty much anything casual. Everything you need in a boot. LOVE EM! BEST. SHOES. EVER!!! Comfy, warm, waterproof (or pretty darn close)Stylish. I want all of them!!!

    LOVE!

I read several reviews that stated these came a half size large, so I went with that and ordered an 8 instead of 8.5 in the pinecone color. They fit great! My boyfriend has been telling me I need some waterproof shoes for everyday wear for some time, and quite honestly nothing was fashionable enough for me to actually do that :) UNTIL I spotted these in a magazine! I knew I would wear these daily, and I have with the exception of work. I've gotten several comments on them, and hope that they go on sale in the spring so I can justify purchasing another color!!
