Unlike the philosophical quandary about the falling tree in a forest, when you have wet feet in the forest, they definitely make noise. Avoid the sounds of squishy feet in the Chaco Women's Azula Mid Waterproof Boot. This rugged hiking boot keeps your dogs dry and happy, whether you're hiking the AT, sidling around swollen streams, or surveying the damage of your flooded basement.
Water-resistant uppers get an extra shot of toughness from rubber toe and heel caps, letting you kick small rocks without a second thought.  The seam-taped waterproof bootie prevents pruny toes when the heavens open and raining pets doesn't begin to describe the deluge.
A polyester mesh lining lets foot sweat escape, so your toes don't end up submerged in a puddle of perspiration. The tongue is gusseted, which means the tongue is attached to both sides of the boot, creating a barrier between pebbles and your paws so you can hike without the added discomfort of rocks in your shoes.
The removable LUVSEAT footbed cradles every bone in your foot for maximum support and long-walking comfort. You'll find additional foot support in the EVA midsole with ESS support shank. While recycling gifts is tacky, recycling rubber is tasteful. The Active Adventure sole is made from EcoTread rubber and contains 25% recycled rubber, without sacrificing an ounce of grip-ability.  Deep lugs, 4 to 5mm deep, contribute to the boot's ability to grip and stay in contact with the ground, in spite of wet, uneven terrain.

Good, but sizing issue

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

I have other chaco shoes (sandals) which is why I wanted these hiking boots. I've used them on crazy hiking trips for the past few years and overall they are pretty good. I like them b/c of their heights, and I roll my ankles easily, so they helped with that. The size was a bit off, though. It said a size 10 (I get 10 for hiking and athletic shoes to compensate for my flat feet and normal swelling during multi-mile trips), but they seem almost a half size too small. Other than the sizing, I love them and for the most part are water resistant. Make sure to re-waterproof them for max resistance down the line. The shoes laces also come undone really easily. Double knot for best performance.
