Youngster Jersey - Men's

It's no secret that the white jersey has proven itself to be an incredibly accurate predictor of the future leaders of the peloton. Plus, watching young, talented cyclists test their youthful exuberance and fresh legs against the calculating veterans of the Tour makes for a hell of a good show. It's anyone's guess what a rider like Yates will become capable of in a few year's time, but we assume that he has a bright—possibly yellow—future ahead of him. To celebrate the promise of youth in the Tour this year, we teamed up with Castelli to create the Youngster Jersey.

We all could use a little youthful exuberance in our rides, especially when we're heading out to an often-pedaled training loop in the summer heat. Though the Youngster's graphics are a Competitive Cyclist-exclusive, they're displayed atop Castelli's Team jersey, giving the jersey the impeccable fit and construction that Castelli has been associated with for decades. As this is one of Castelli's training jerseys, it won't have the sculptured, next-to-skin fit of the brand's racing kit, but it's still constructed with the forward-oriented sleeves and shorter torso that define Castelli's approach to kit that feels best when you're in a riding position.

Fittingly, Castelli constructs the Youngster with its summer weight Procool Plus fabric, complete with a Prosecco treatment. This stretchy, light synthetic holds its shape in the saddle while moving with you, and its added Prosecco treatment helps it more efficiently move moisture on the days that leave you wishing for a high alpine ascent just to escape the heat. Since we can't all jet off to the Alps for a training ride now and then, the Youngster does include a full-length zipper for bigger heat dumps. It also features the standard three rear pockets to fill with your favorite energizing ride fuel, as well as an elastic waistband that holds the entire jersey in place when you're moving around in the saddle.
