Description
Pedal warm.
There aren't too many brands that mix function with form as well as Castelli. With the Castelli Women's Trasparente Full Zip Long Sleeve Jersey, you can count on having all the necessary coverage from the wind and cold, while still feeling sleek and elegant enough to be able to face your other lady friends in the street should they unexpectedly pull up next to you at a stoplight in their soccer-mom-SUVs.
As part of the Rosso Corsa top line gear, the Women's Trasparente Jersey is among the jewels in the Castelli crown. Castelli uses their X-Lite stretch Windstopper fabric for the front panels, forearms, and over the tops of the shoulders. This specific placement makes the jersey effectively wind resistant without inhibiting your freedom of movement. The X-Lite incarnation of the Windstopper fabric has great horizontal stretch, giving you ample room to move if you need to reach back to your pockets, or find yourself raising your arms in a victory salute. The same built-in membrane in the X-Lite that makes it windproof also makes it water resistant enough to quell worries of road spray or light rain penetrating the jacket and cooling off your core. The interior of the fabric has a nice layer of brushed poly to make it feel snug and warm. The fleecy inner surface also helps its fantastic wicking capabilities. And since the X-Lite has upwards of ten times the breathability of other wind protection fabrics, the Trasparente works to keep your perspiration from building up and cooling you off.
The contrasting panel that covers most of the back and part of the forearm is made from what Castelli calls their Warmer Fabric. It's a mega plush, fleecy fabric that offers thermal insulation and moisture management. It also provides for a one-way, horizontal stretch which is important when you have your three rear pockets loaded, but nevertheless you want them to stay rock solid and centered on your back. Castelli made certain to include a generous 3.5cm elastic, logoed stabilizer below the pockets and extending around the back half of the jersey. This helps keep the bottom hem of the Trasparente Jersey in place, even if you have your pockets unevenly loaded.
At the other end, the collar gets equal attention paid to it: Castelli made it high and with an ergonomic cut. Using both the Warmer and the X-Lite Windstopper fabrics, this collar has been created to give the back of your neck the greatest protection from the elements -- though Castelli has been careful to add in a slight notch at the very center back of the collar to accommodate your neck while in the riding position and prevent the fabric from bunching up unnecessarily. As the collar wraps around to the front of the neck, it gets progressively lower, going from a height of about 9cm in back to 7cm in the front. X-Lite Windstopper protects the front of your neck from the full-on wind you'll doubtless encounter. The YKK zipper has an oversized, rubberized plastic zipper pull so you'll be able to adjust it even while wearing winter gloves.
Half-moon Scotchlite reflective material on the front and back of the shoulders will keep you visible in the winter gloom and mist. The Castelli Women's Trasparente Full Zip Long Sleeve Jersey comes in Black/black, Cyan/white, and White/black. It is available in X-Small through X-Large.

I LOVE this jacket. I was getting so cold on rides so I got this jacket to wear with an Icebreaker Tee shirt and the combo is wonderful. I'm 5'7, 145lbs and I got the medium and its PERFECT. Slightly tight but that's what you want. I'm so happy I took the plunge with this jacket, it's just great.

I love this Castelli Jacket, it is perfect for riding in 50 to 60 degree weather. The ergonomic collar completely covers the whole neck area, which really makes a difference in keeping wind out and staying warm. I always know I am perfectly dressed for the temp when I wear this jacket. I also have the warmer Castelli Jacket that I wear when it is below 50 degrees.
They run on the small side, so the large fit me perfectly.

The best gear is the gear that lets you participate in an activity without thinking about anything but your performance. By that criteria, this is one of the best cold weather jerseys out there. I wore this while racing cyclocross and didn't think about it once during the race. Nothing pulled, pinched, or left odd areas exposed. The buttery soft material kept me warm without overheating. Love the fit and the design lines. I'm 5'6" and about 135lbs and got this in a medium.

Rosso Corsa- the best. Fit, material, design. My wife loves it. 5, 5, 120lb, size S. Lovely thing indeed. Not too heavy, not too light. Made in Italy.

I live in Seattle and use this as a light but stylish and well fitting jacket over a long sleeve jersey on cooler days. I have it in black and it is really beautiful, perfect fit (I ordered a size M- I often wear smalls in other brands). I love that the length of sleeves and the jersey works well for me- I am 5'8 with longish arms.
I love it and wish I had one in white too!
Love this jersey

I live in the California Sierra foot hills and the terrain is either up or down, so its difficult to find the right combination of clothing. Layering is difficult because you cant ride more than a few miles without having a significant climb, and what goes up must come down. So you either cook on the way up or freeze on the way down, or are constantly stopping to take layers off, or put them back on. This jersey really solved the problem. On a steep climb I can unzip the jersey all the way down to a few inches from the bottom to cool off, and then at the top zip it up to the neck for the ride down the other side without absolute freezing. Once zipped up it really retains body heat, so its very warm for such a light weight jersey. Its also perfect when riding into a cold head wind. I bought the white jersey and have had no problems keeping it clean. It washes very well. Also the XS is really an extra small, so for the small gals like me you can finally find a jersey that fits snug enough to show off your figure.
Good-looking and good wearing jacket

This is in between a L/S jersey and light jacket. I wear this with only a sports bra underneath in 55-65 degree weather and it works great. It is not scratchy at all, so no base layer needed if weather is cool. Lower temps, I would wear one. It is long in back and, thank you,.... longer in the front as well! Also, nice long arms. It is white in front and black in the back. I have good movement all over, but I did order up a size, should I need to layer more and it is not cold enough for my winter jacket (Castelli Inspirazione jacket... amazing, by the way). Good for some wind protection, but not great. I have had to unzip on climbs. I am 5'-8" weigh 135 (140 in winter), got a Large, and glad I did. Plenty of room but not oversized in the mid-section for me at all. Overall - a great jersey for cool weather.

This is the most thoughtful long-sleeve jersey I own. It's more like a very lightweight jacket. It's like someone at Castelli read my mind. The windstopper fabric extends through the entire front of the jersey, including the sleeves, keeping my arms protected from icey cold descents and fast flats where a winstopper vest and long-sleeve fleecey jersey has failed, resulting in shivering icicle arms, yet it's strangely still too warm for a full windstopper jacket. The neck is very high in front and back for added cold and wind protection. And if you get too warm, just unzip it. Looking forward to many more rides in Texas "winter" weather.
Two days later: as a side note, the "rosso corso" label came off in the wash, no biggie, the jersey is unharmed. Wore it again today, still loving it!
