    The Sorpasso surpasses.

If Castelli is going to call its Women's Sorpasso Bib Tights the best bib tights it's ever made, who are we to argue? When you look at them on paper, it makes sense, although when you take them out for a spin — that's where they win you over.

The Sorpasso Bib Tights start with Castelli's remarkable Thermoflex Core Due material. This hollow-core polyester fiber material plays the seemingly contradictory role of insulating your body, protecting from the wind, and retaining warmth in the lowest temperatures, yet still allowing incredible breathability and stretch, and serving to help evaporate moisture that accumulates within, so you always stay comfortable. Castelli's own team of testers couldn't believe the temperature range that the Sorpasso's could comfortably accommodate. Castelli's standard Thermoflex material is used along the tights' rear panels, where wind protection isn't as necessary as providing a comfortable and supportive fit, while also saving a bit of weight and further promoting breathability.

If the superiority of the Sorpasso's materials isn't enough, then certainly the comfortable, seamless Giro++ bib straps and the Progetto X2 Air chamois will seal the deal. Those straps mean zero chafing, and their wideness distributes their pressure over a wide area so you barely feel they're even there. That Progetto chamois is designed for maximum support of the sit bones (or ischial tuberosity), relieving sensitive soft tissue of pressure, while also serving to evacuate accumulated moisture from down below to preserve comfort and prevent soreness.

The Castelli Women's Sorpasso Bib Tights come in five sizes, from X-Small to X-Large, and in the color Black/white.

    Nice feel of fabric

    • Fit: True to size

The fabric feels really nice against the skin and stretchy, the fit is good (I can wear either a small or xs), if you want a tighter fit go down a size. I would have kept these but the padding feels too big (wide in the back) even with XS. Maybe it's personal preference, but I just didn't like the padding.

    Decent

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

These are warm, but I was hoping for warmer. I live in Southern AZ and I am perpetually cold. The winters are chilly here and I can barely stand to ride. I was hoping some warm tights would fix that, and they did to a certain degree. They are pretty good overall and I'm sure most people would find them warm enough.

Great, but not as warm as I hoped

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm a big Castelli fan and wear the Body Paint bib shorts when weather permits. So, it was only natural to get these Sorpasso tights for the cold weather. Everything the description above says is true, except they are not as warm as I had hoped. I'd say these are good for those cloudy 50 degree days, but for the winter riding I do here in Boulder, they just don't cut it. I want something for the 30+ degree range, and the wicked wind. So, if you are looking for a nice, comfy, good-chamois bib tights for chilly weather, you may like these. But, if you're riding in the deep freeze, you might want to go for something else. I'm going to maybe get the Gore Phantom tights for winter riding now and see how they fare. But I sure am looking forward to the Spring when I can wear the Castelli Sorpassos.

    So comfortable

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

So far I've only ridden once in these but they were perfect for a 40 degree ride. Very comfortable. Nice fit. Great chamois. I'm 5'5" and 107 lbs. The XS is just right.
