Modern technology is overrated.
We've always loved the idea, floated in days of yore, of rolling up to the start line with a cotton cycling cap at a jaunty angle on our head, taking it off and handing it to a pretty thing or eager school child, strapping on our leather casque and rolling away in a parade through the town before the hostilities begin five kilometers up the road. That cap would look much like the Castelli Retro Cycling Cap, only with more sponsors on it.
We never lived out this fantasy, as hairnets were banned in our youth and team caps are pretty rare commodities these days. We never found ourselves on a team that had a sufficient budget for giving away cycling caps at the rate of one per race. Looking at the Retro, it's jus as well. This is one we wouldn't want to give away.
Simple, yes, but beautiful. And, as we've written countless times, quite practical. Shield your skull from the sun, protect your eyes from both the sun and rain, warm your noggin after finishing a race, keep sweat out of your eyes when mastering your spin on the rollers indoors. Wash them in the machine; so long as you keep them out of a hot dryer, they should last and last and last.
The Retro cap is 100% cotton. It's a traditional four-panel pro design, with the Italian tricolore running down the middle. Castelli logos are screened on the sides. The bill has a contrasting color flare across the brim.
The Castelli Retro cap comes in the following colors: Black, Natural, and Pink. One size, fits most.

My favorite Cap
Love, love love this cap. I've worn it all summer under my helmet and it still looks great. I like that I can flip up the list and the Castelli logo is displayed.
Best Cap I Own.
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I like a cap underneath my helmet, and have several from different makers. This is my favorite. My head is 57 cm in diameter, and lots of one-size cycling caps fit snug. This one is cut fuller in the headband and the crown, so it does not make me look like a pinhead, and does not induce a pressure headache a couple of hours into a ride. It holds up to machine washing just fine, but I hang it to dry, as I do with all my cycling clothing.
Great look. Good drummer.
If you got that line, I applaud you. Now, about this cap ...
I love this thing. It's such a classic looking cap. Looks great sticking out from under the helmet or on its own. Forward, backward, bill up, bill down. It don't matter. This thing is just a beauty all the way around.
One note ... It does fit a bit tight. I typically wear a size 7 1/8 hat, which I don't think is particularly big, and this cap is quite snug. If I wear it for a few hours during a ride, it will leave a mark. It's not uncomfortable, but I figured it's worth noting.
do these come in children's sizes?

The machismo definitely flows with this baby on. Some cycling caps are too small for my melon but this cap fits perfectly. Love Castelli gear so repping it is not a problem.

What is the C.O.O. (Country of Origin)? Thanks
i got this hat for free and complaining about it seems wrong
but when i wore the hat it seemed to cut off blood flow. now i dont no if i have a big head or what but for me it was painful to wear until i got it wet and everything changed now i cant stop wearing it.
now it fits great. i give it four star just for being to tight in the beginning other then that great all over hat
