Claudio Men's Bib Shorts

There's a lot that a photo of pro racing can't tell you. Those early-season classics, frequently run in raw weather that would turn us home after only an hour, aren't raced in plain shorts. Those legs aren't bare and those shorts aren't cut from 8 oz. Lycra. The combination of embrocation with thermal bibshorts is a PRO's secret weapon.

Castelli's Claudio Nanoflex Bibshorts appear to be a traditional pair of bibshorts, however, they're cut from Castelli's proprietary Nanoflex fabric used in some of their best tights and warmers. The name comes from tiny nanofilaments of silicone that cause water to bead up and run off as if it were oilskin. It's just porous enough to breathe but provides enough of a barrier to keep you protected from light rain and road spray. Even in a driving downpour it will still keep you warm thanks to its brushed finish inside.

Castelli incorporates their KISS3 pad to maximize the bibs' combination of value and comfort. It features an anatomic shape to conform to your body and ultimately increase your comfort. Unlike most pads found in comparably priced tights, the KISS3 pad features a continuously variable thickness, eliminating the odd sensation of thick here, thin there, that you may have seen before with a dual-density pad. The brushed microfiber cover cuts down on chafing and features a bacteriostatic treatment to reduce the likelihood of saddle sores.

Traditional silicone leg grippers keep the shorts in place at the bottom, while mesh bib straps help transport moisture to the jersey and make sure the waist stays where it's meant to be. Two reflective rear tabs make you more visible in low-light conditions.
