Carve Designs Sunshine Dress - Women's - 2011 BCS

The fit of this dress is spot on. I am a medium and I got a medium and it fit well. The color is a different story. I ordered black and it is a deep green. The tag on the dress said black but it isn't black, but I am going to keep it any way. It is a cute cotton dress and will be good for casual occasions.

I was looking for a casual summer dress and this one fit the bill. I am just over 5'7" and just shy of 120 lbs, small 34B and the size small fit well - in fact, it looks almost exactly like the product photos on the Carve Designs website as it does on me. That said, I think the dress would be more flattering if the skirt were slightly more full and A-line cut. I don't think the pictures convey this well, but the skirt is a fairly straight and narrow cut. Not tight, but if you were pear-shaped this dress might cling to your rear and hips a bit. The fabric is on the lighter side of midweight and could probably stand to be a little more substantial, at least in the skirt part. Again, I think a more a slightly more full, a-line cut on the bottom would cure any problems caused by both lighter weight fabric and a cut that is somewhat straight. I did not follow the washing instructions to the letter (I washed in warm water, cold rinse and hung dry, rather than a completely cold wash) and the dress did shrink a tiny bit so be careful. Finally, having tried on the dress, washed it and tried it on once more, the seam between the bodice and skirt ripped so I have a hole right in the middle of my belly. I can easily fix this, but I am considering sending it back since I haven't even WORN the dress and the seam ripped.

I'm 5'8 and usually a size MD, and the size MD fits perfect. Sits right at the knee and I'm sure it will get a lot of use in the summer. I like that I can wear a regular bra with it too.

The seams look messy and cheap. The color (topaz) and cut are very cute, but overall the dress looks too cheap for the price. I'm sending it back.
