Description

Powerful spooning.

There’s a slight spoon shape going on in the blade of the Carlisle Magic Plus Fiberglass Shaft Paddle. This design allows the blade to catch the water (more efficiently than a flat blade) and provide leverage for powerful strokes. The lightweight fiberglass shaft adds a bit of flex to the paddle so your arms can last, and the center button allows for 60-degree feathering.

Magic Plus

I've used this paddle in the lakes, the rivers, and now the bay and I have to say it really get's the job done! Very, very easy and comfortable to use and does well with light touring and speed paddling!

Now, note that all of my gear is pampered so it might not be right for everyone!

beware

You get what you pay for. This paddle is relatively cheap.. my family and I have owned 3 of them. They held up for about 5 years of kayaking on lakes, rivers, and at the beach. However, this past month during an outing, TWO of the paddles broke straight in half at the midpoint. neither paddler was doing anything our of the ordinary (one was simply paddling and the other used it to push off into the water for a seal entry). i was honestly shocked at how poorly these turned out. also, they retain water over the years inside the shaft.....

They sure cheaped out on this one

Don't buy. Built very cheap. The shaft is nice and comforatable. However they really cut back where it's the most imortant, where the two peices come together. The whole shaft is fiberglass but the male connecter is a cheap plastic. It busted in half on the very first trip. I'll spend a little more next time

Need to know if the Carlisle Magic Plus paddle has the same dihederal cross section as the Voodoo paddle? Want the Voodoo because of that but it doesn't come in "Sunrise" color and the Magic Plus does. How does it's shape and paddling characteristics compare to the Voodoo? I want it fiberglass and a flutter free design. Help please.

How do I know which length kayak paddle to purchase? I will be paddling a Tegris Ultimate, 12'1, am 5'8" and 34" from heel of hand to underarm. Thanks for any tip.. Tony

It depends, since your boat is so wide I would recommend going with a bigger paddle. 230cm is the most common size for touring paddles, most people find them very comfortable. However you may want to go with a 240 to give you a little bit more length to get as much paddle in the water as possible.
