If your favorite pair of jeans were to get in a fight with the Carhartt Loose-Fit Canvas Carpenter Denim Pants, the Carpenters wouldn\222t break a sweat as they single-leggedly slashed and tore those weak-kneed jeans into something resembling what an \22180s-she-metal band would wear. As the name implies, the Canvas Carpenters come with a looser fit in the seat and thighs for a relaxed feel. But their easy-going look masks a rough, tough, and downright-mean disposition towards anything that stands between them and a job well done. And in addition to their plethora of pockets, these durable work pants also come with dual hammer loops so they can tote tools on both legs as a symbol of their authority over shoddily made imitators.
Bottom Line: And if your favorite pants are already the Carpenters, well, hopefully civilization will survive the ensuing nuclear explosion.
If you're a jeans guy that has to pass for a Dockers dude occasionally, these almost do it. I travel a lot and wear them on the plane so I look just that little bit dressier than jeans when I get where I'm going. As others have said, they won't last like the double-knee classics, but they are very comfortable to wear (I'm a medium-size big guy 6'2" 220) and fit me well.
I'm planning to buy more and replace the blue jeans for all my traveling.

My experience with Carhartt pants has been that they are true to size. Denim will give a bit more than most of the other different fabrics that Carhartt uses...which doesn't give hardly at all.
I bought a pair of these and love them. Fits like the classic Carhardt work pants you've come to expect with just a little more "Docker" feel (without the Docker brand).
i can usually get away wearing a 34 size pant, but these i had to go one up and get the 36...a bit of a hit to my ego, but the fit is great, the fabric is comfortable. great work or casual pants. wear them hiking, working, or drinking!
I bought a pair of these (not from backcountry.com, sorry!) pants over a year ago. I have worn them to class, hiking, camping, working in the cold, everything. They can withstand being worn for a week or two without needing a wash, gross but true. The areas of high use (around pockets, knees, etc) is fading in color but the actual material is still in great condition. The canvas is comfortable and durable to the point that you can most likely own a pair of these for years.
I have a VERY active son who has not managed to break through these jeans yet. They fit him well, which is hard since he is very thin. We liked your service getting them to us too. All around, we are very pleased!! thanks
I like these pants, but not as much as my other pairs of carhartts (which are more or less the only pants I wear). They seem to fit a little tighter through the hips until it hits about mid thigh. This may be due to the jean-style pocket cut, rather than the traditional carhartt slash pocket we know and love. They're a pretty good pair of nicer looking pants, not as many rivets as the other styles, so you can dress them up a bit more. In short, a good, well-made pair of pants, just a funky fit.
These pants have a timeless design. They probably look the same on the farmer who wore them in the 1930's, as they do on me! Very comfortable and durable fabric to boot, nice fit. I just need a pair for every day of the week.
Don't like Carhartts all rough and ridged that never seem to break in? These are great! Softer denim lets these pants feel comfortable right off the get go. Fit nicely but could use gusseted crotch. These do wear out a little faster than the more rugged Carharrts like the washed duck work dungarees.
This is a good lighter weight pair of Carhartts that I bought for climbing among other things. They work good for whatever kind of climbing, but are great for the desert. Maybe the double knee'd version would be more durable, but they are also heavier and not as flexible as these. They also look good as just a casual around town pair of dungarees, as well as a work/painter pant of course.
This is my second pair of these after wearing out the first. Not as burly as the super heavy duty Carhartt's but still love 'em. Just grovelled around in the dirt at Joe's Valley yesterday and they were great. Great desert climbing/bouldering pant.
