    Flock to the mountains.

Not content resting on numerous awards, the Capita Women's Birds of a Feather Snowboard takes flight as one of the premier all-terrain freestyle boards on the market, thanks to continual improvements in its design and construction. New for this year, a DS Select RFC Sustainable core offers high levels of snap, with a mid-level flex for smooth riding anywhere on the mountain. Also, the upgraded Fortress Kevlar-bound sidewalls ensure robust durability, giving your board substantial reinforcement in the case of a rail or rock impact.

The Birds of a Feather Snowboard features a true twin shape, making it a blast to float backside 180s into powder and spin through the jump line. Its Hybrid FK profile is more aggressive than many hybrid-rocker profiles on the market, due to it being predominately camber. Camber runs underfoot, just 5-millimeters past the binding inserts. After the binding inserts, large flat zones (i.e. zero camber) transition into a slight rocker just before the tip and tail kicks. Ultimately, this camber/flat/rocker profile delivers the powerful edgehold and aggressive feel of a predominately camber board, but with large flat zones for boosting ollies and stomping landings with authority. The small bit of rocker at the tip and tail increases float in deep snow, also providing a catch-free feel for pressing, buttering, and dorking around the mountain.

The new DS Select RFC Sustainable Core is comprised of poplar wood, which delivers a ton of snap, as well as a consistently smooth flex from tip-to-tail. Beech inserts under the bindings add extra stomping power and durability where you need it most. 2x 30-millimeter carbon fiber beams boost response and liveliness while reducing chatter. And to keep you from bogging down in deep snow, this board features a highly absorbent Wax-infused Rotation Sintered base for blistering speed.

What do you think about this product?

    Have questions about this product?

    Wow.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    Wow. Just, wow.

I rode GNU/Roxy boards for years, but after getting frustrated that my local reps kept giving me demo boards with crappy bases that would stick everywhere, I dropped them and bought myself this Capita Birds of a Feather board. Holy crap, going from riding a mostly rocker board to this board... that was quite the change.

I got used to this board really fast after a couple days. The thing I LOVE about this board is that it just LOCKS on rails sooooo well. So much better than my Mervin boards. I can also carve way better and go faster. My boyfriend even said I look less sketchy on this board, haha.

It's a really fun, playful board that I take everywhere. I also feel like I can ollie onto rails much better with this thing.

I am 5'2, 115 lbs and got the 140. I usually ride 142-144 so this was just a little smaller than I am used to, but I love it. It's fantastic. OH, HAVE I MENTIONED HOW CRAZY LIGHT IT IS?? My Mervin boards are friggin' TANKS compared to this. This board still looks new after riding it all season, although it's a bit softer now but still has POP :)

It looks like I just might be a Defender of Awesome from now on... love Capita!!!!

    Wow.

    Great All Mtn Charger

I picked this up for my girlfriend( I ride the DOA and this is the woman's version of it) Shes 5'6 and got the 150. It's stiffer than her last board which makes for predictability in chop and great at high speeds. A little stiff for her when buttering but that's not what she wanted the board for and if you're going that route just size down. She loves how the ride carves and is not hooky like traditional cambered boards can be.

I can't say enough about this board

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My previous board was the 2014 Gnu Velvet Gnuru. I wanted to try a rocker and it had plenty of positive reviews. It was fun and bendy and I loved buttering and goofing around on it, but I just never had confidence. I would loose my edges on groomers and riding through powder was like riding a wet noodle.

I wanted to get back to a camber board and this board seemed like the best of both worlds! Regular camber in between the feet and rocker out to the tips. It has been amazing. I've ridden powder, groomers, park and also just goofed around on the mountain with it. I paired it with Now bindings (you need to check them out as well - subtle, but amazing feeling and awesome technology in a binding set). With the combo, I feel NO chatter when going through patchy, beat up areas of the runs. It's pretty amazing.

I'm 5'5" and bought a 150. I feel that it's pretty perfect for me. I'm in the stage that I'm progressing into learning tricks and advancing my riding and I feel that I have made more progress on this board in 2 days than I did on my rocker for 2 seasons. I'm riding switch now comfortably and just feel great trying everything out.

I don't want to ride anything else. I think it's shape is the best that's out there. Pop from the camber and rocker to get through deeper stuff and to spring off of. I LOVE it.

      Perfect.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I don't really have a lot of experience with other boards to compare this one to, but I can definitely say with confidence that I love it! It's super easy to control, glides over powder better than my last board, and it lets me go through trees effortlessly.
I'm still trying to hone in my skills as a boarder, so it helps that the Birds of a Feather is so fun to use. Great float, stable no matter what I ride over or how fast I go, and it carves perfectly. I might have to buy a second one!
I'm 5' 4" and I bought the 148cm. The slightly shorter length gives me more control with top speeds and crazy terrain, but I think next time I'll get the 150 to float a little better over pow.

      Ideal for the park

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

This board is ideal for anyone looking to up their park skills. It's super poppy so you can hit huge air, and has a little bit of rocker in the tip and tail so riding switch is a piece of cake, that goes for butters too. This board is the top choice of riders at the Mt. Hood training camps.

      My lady's favorite board

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

She kind of charges all of a sudden. I think this Birds of a Feather has really helped her improve and gain confidence on the mountain. Free riding in pow or groomers, she doesn't change her stance. The BOF has good float and is stable when the speed picks up. Since the board has a sintered base and some new added tech like Fortress Bound Kevlar sidewalls, I'm sure she'll get a couple or few seasons out of it.

That's exactly how I feel now that I have this board! It has completely changed who I am as a rider. I used to be too timid to try things because I didn't feel confident. Now, I realize a lot had to do with what I was riding. Riding the BOF now, I'll pretty much try anything and I'm positive and excited to try new stuff. Glad she found a great board. Your review was one of the reasons I went ahead and bough it. I'm so glad I did.

Are you guys getting in any more 154's or is that it for the season?

It looks like we aren't getting anymore 154's in for this season, But we will be getting next seasons in around august! If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly. James Farnan: Jfarnan@backcountry.com or shoot me a call 801-204-4549

      5'2 and 113 what size am I 142 or 144?

      Hi Melissa,

Either one of those lengths would be appropriate for your height and weight. If you want a more nimble quick turning board go with the 142. If you want something that is going to be more stable at high speeds go with the 144.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
