    Style and warmth!

    • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
    • Fit:True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

Great style and cut. The colors are on point and the hood is luxurious. I like the longer body on this style as opposed to the shorter Canada goose jackets. Super warm but not bulky!

BEST jacket I have ever owned!

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:True to size
    • Size Bought: xs

I purchased this jacket for the bitter cold NYC winter and couldn't be happier with my choice. I bought an XS in Navy, and it is perfect to wear to work, on the weekends, and on ski trips. Though the jacket is not entirely waterproof, it fares quite well on the slopes assuming there is not a massive downpour. The fit is perfect and despite being one of the warmest jackets i've ever owned, it certainly does not feel masculine or bulky. A+ for style AND warmth!

Love it, but not IN love...

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Warm, comfortable, stylish. Exactly what wanted for what I use it for. Casual use. Walking a block down the street to the grocery store, in/out of the car to work. I'm happy I bought it. Shames my cheap old synthetic down coat.

This coat keeps my arms and midsection warm, but sometimes I wish I had went with something like the Victoria parka to cover my bum and thighs. The wind sometimes finds it's way in if I'm not wearing proper pants for cold weather.

The hood is massive. If I don't cinch it up a bit it hangs over my eyes. It does a great job keeping the wind out of my face. The coyote fur helps a lot and is incredibly soft. I just don't like that the zipper and hood are connected like they are. Zipping it up all the way keeps me warm, but it's constricting and if it's not zipped up far enough wind will find its way in. I can wear a scarf with it, but again, a bit restrictive. It would be great if the hood was like the hood on my boyfriend's Citadel. The double zipper is nice, gets caught sometimes when I unzip the bottom for when I sit down, which is convenient. I like that a lot.

The pockets on the front of the coat are great. Very large and cozy. Keep my hands warm when I forget my mittens. The cuffs are great. Keeps wind out, but does make it a tad difficult for wearing mittens/gloves. Not impossible though, just need to do some maneuvering. The inside pockets were a massive disappointment. I was hoping they'd be large enough for my wallet or cellphone, but that's not the case at all. I rarely use them. Side arm pocket is great for my keys. I like it.

Ordered a S which fits great. I'm 5'1", 105 lbs. I could have gotten away with an XS, but wanted a little extra give for a hoodie/sweater.

I know this review seems mostly negative but I do love this coat. It keeps me warm. It's stylish. It's what I wanted. It could be better, though. Overall I recommend Canada Goose for those who live in places where it gets below 0. Maybe pick one that's longer.

The cinch I'm talking about is on the back of the hood. It helps keep it up higher on your head. Also, the hood itself is NOT removable like the specs say. Only the coyote fur is.

I like using the straps on the inside for draping my coat on a chair to avoid getting shoulder nipples.

Also, repels water well. Wouldn't wear it in the rain, but melting snow doesn't soak in.

    Well made

This coat is beautiful. I usually wear a small but the chest was very tight and when I zip the coat all the way up, it was almost constricting. The body it self fits perfectly I even had to clenched in the waist. One thing I don't like is the front pockets. It's bulky and unflattering when I store my gloves. I also find it funny how huge the hood is, even without having the fur.

      Canada goose montebello parka

the most beautiful coat I've ever owned by far the warmest was in -3 Winchell didn't feel a thing coyote fu kept the wind o unbelievable protection from thprotection from the elements and I look 2 thank you so mu backcountry and Canada and Canada Goose lori B

        small or medium

Hi I am 5'4 and weighs 130 pounds. I am wondering if I should get a small or a medium for the montebello.

          Please help. Thankyou

Hey?.if you haven?t bought yet?..i would say get a small and if your chest isn?t more than a B and you like your clothes fitted get a xsmall?.

I am your weight and height and just had a baby and fit into mine which is a 2xsmall I like my stuff fitted

All I suggest is get a black cause its safest of all colors. I have a red and it?s a Bi@!h to clean and keep clean?I am spot cleaning like every week. I take mines to the cleaners and its 80 bucks to clean each visit?..hope it helps

          Love this coat!!!

I love this coat!! I'm 5'3 -140 pounds and a large fits me perfectly. I had first bought a CG Trillium (size medium) but the fit wasn't good for someone my size. The torso part of the Trillium was too long and the length of the coat made me we look like a little girl wearing her mother's coat. The Montebello have the same qualities as the Trillium but fits much better for someone my size.

            disappointing

i have spent the last two winters looking for a new coat with a full hood - high collar to replace my old one. a converted men's coat i bought second hand and wore for 5 years.

recently i spent just under 600 dollars on the canada goose ladies' montebello model. instantly fell in love with the styling and feel, and the idea that my search would end here.

              negative

the hood when worn as a high standing collar is a tad to tight, and won't zip or button up around my chin. i tried a size larger but the collar was exactly the same.

the fur attachment that zips onto the hood is a bit floppy, so it doesn't stand up when i wear the hood/collar unzipped. the zipper of the attachment doesn't lock, so periodically i have to close the gap at the edge.

my old coat's hood was lined with teddy bear material. i liked that better, because this hood slides around too much when i wear it more loosely, and it makes noise when it rubs against my ears, plus it's not as cozy.

the lining generally feels a little thin and of lesser quality than one would hope from a coat in this price range.

every day i find little bits of down clinging to the black fabric. today i realized the pocket lining material (a beautiful teddy bear fabric) is covered with down that is extremely difficult to remove.

it hasn't been colder than -3 degrees yet, but on really windy days, i'm already a little surprised that i can feel the wind on my arms and my shoulders. it's not as warm as i expected. at the same time the sleeves are a bit too tight and the lining clings to my forearms that get sweaty when i ride my bike. it's also a little too tight under the arms. nothing that gets washed so little should be so close to the armpits!

it could do with one more button at the bottom near the hem the corner gapes a bit at the opening. the bottom pockets don't help this.

the bottom pockets are internal pockets - nothing really fits into them. they bulge onto the inside of the coat and make it tighter and more constricted on the hips - not good for riding. it would be better if the pockets were little pouches sewn onto the outside of the coat. it would even accentuate the tailered styling. as it is, the pockets deform the whole look if i try to put my gloves inside.

the upper pockets are situated a little too high to be comfortable. my elbows bend all the way just to reach the pockets and when resting in them, my arms seem to put a lot of stress on both the edge of the pockets and my wrists.

to be absolutely ideal, there should be zippers under the arms for venting, so the neck and ears can stay covered, but you don't soak the coat through if you find yourself being a little more active.

all in all the coat could have been a lot better thought through. i think it's way too expensive for the value.

and finally if i'm going to be really nitpicky i'll say the range of colours is not versatile for different skin types. i would have chosen a colour other than black, but they were all cold colours that make my face look ill.

              positive

i think the coat looks great!

there are countless pockets. that can come in handy.

the full hood stands up pretty well worn as a collar, even though it doesn't zip up all the way, and keeps ears warm under that great fluffy soft warm piece of fur, even in a pretty hefty wind!

the two way zipper of course is a must! good thinking.

had i known when i bought it what i know about the coat now, i might have continued my search. the fact is there probably isn't anything better out there, but for that kind of money i had great expectations that just weren't met.

Should this coat be dry cleaned or put in a washing machine on delicate cycle. If washed at home, would it ever go into a dryer? I love this coat and I want it to last as long as possible, and keep it in good shape.

I got this from their site

"When your garment requires cleaning, be sure to closely follow the directions on the contents label on the inside of the garment. A well looked-after Canada Goose garment will easily last for more than a decade, if not a lifetime.

Down-Insulated: When your down-filled parka requires cleaning, it is important that you take it to a dry cleaner and that you do not machine wash it. Machine-washing your parka will void the warranty. If your parka has a removable fur option, remove the fur ruff before dry cleaning. If you have a small stain on your parka, another option is to spot-wash the parka with a bleach-free detergent and water.

Non-Insulated: Your non-insulated jacket may be machine-washed in cold water using a bleach-free detergent. Do not dry clean and do not tumble dry. Simply hang your jacket to dry and iron on a cool setting if necessary."

"If your Canada Goose gear needs to be cleaned, be sure to find a reputable dry cleaner who is experienced with down-filled garments and ensure they follow the cleaning instructions found on the care label. If your jacket has a removable fur trim, remove the fur before cleaning. If the fur is not removable, ensure the dry cleaner does not treat the fur trim during the cleaning process, as it may shrink or damage the fur."

Could I wear this coat skiing?

              Hey Victoria,

This jacket, while it could be used for skiing, isn't going to be your best option. The cut itself won't be accommodating for much athletic movement, it's more of a casual style.

The DWR fabric will repel water, but this coat isn't waterproof. If you live in a climate where it rains or sleets this will become problematic.

The down is also not very versatile for skiing because it may cause you to overheat. Synthetic insulation is going to be better unless you ski somewhere where the temps are SUPER cold.
