Unanswered Question

Will this jacket be a good choice for a winter jacket if I'm living in Montreal? I will need it for walking to class everyday as well as normal activities in Montreal. Do you think a jacket like the Borden bomber would be a better choice?

Unanswered Question

I'm 6ft 1, 40 in chest 34 waist. What size?

Hi
I am 5'9'', chest and waist are both 39".
what size is fit for me?
Thanks a lot!

Responded on

Well, the measurement range CG posits as being appropriate for a size Medium are going to be 38-40in for the chest and 33-36in for the waist. In a size Large, the chest measurements run 41-43in and the waist measurements recommended are 37-40in, so I would advise you order a Large. Try it on and if it feels a bit loose, you can return it and order a Medium; however, unless you like your clothing to be a bit more on the form-fitting side, I would give the Large a go initially, then decide from there. Hope this helps!

A Canadian is impressed.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

1. Wind proofing is excellent
2. Water proofing is excellent
3. Downfill is adequate and not excessive

Compared to:

1. Chilliwack - this is MUCH lighter, MORE breathable but LONGER in length (since there's no elastic fabric on the waist)

2. Hybridge jacket - WARMER, slightly loose, LONGER

I live Toronto,ON Canada where the winters are harsh and the weather can be unpredictable (just today it snowed followed by freezing rain hours later). I have used this jacket in milder temps (up to 10c/50f) and harsh temps as low as -20c or -4f and found the jacket to be versatile. Suffice to say it'll protect you from varying elements. Lots of pockets which is a plus. Packability is also a plus.

Now for the cons:

1. It's not really slim cut. I'm 5'7, 150lbs and the Small is still a bit roomy. BACKCOUNTRY PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE carry sizes up to XS (I saw that the CanadaGoose website carries up to XXS).

2. I wore a Black polo shirt today and saw some small feathers that stuck on my shirt. They're tiny feathers but it's a sign that there's some leaking happening. I think I may have to send it back if this still continues until March (It's January at the moment when the weather is harsh).

This is not a con (yet) but the fabric appears to be very thin. I believe if you get caught on a surface with rough edges the fabric will rip. Only time will tell (hopefully not).

I personally have not adjusted the hood and the waist elastic to conform to my body so I cannot comment on the adjustability. I got this in Red and yes it does attract attention.

Reason for 4 stars: the fit. If it were a TRUE slim fit I would've given is 5 stars. This is true to size in my opinion.

Hi!
My son is 5'10" and his waist is 31". Which size is fit for him?
Thank you!

Responded on

If he wants it slim - Small
But really, he's a Medium

What would be a good, TOUGH, jacket for temps between 30-35ºC? Want something with a hood, waist length that is resistant to tears if caught on something. Anything??

Responded on

Too warm for those temps you posted but in case you made a mistake of not putting the negative sign - I don't think this is adequate on it's own. You will need to layer inside.

But you have to ask yourself how many times you'll be in those temps OUTDOORS. If we're talking about from door to car then inside the mall then it's fine.

Great Jacket, big hood

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

If you're looking for a warm, yet not overly bulky down jacket, you can't beat the Lodge Jacket from Canada Goose. I read the reviews and hesitated to buy the version with the hood b/c a previous reviewer mentioned how large it was, but I took a shot anyhow. The hood is massive, there really isn't a way to utilize it without it covering most of your face (unless you have a ski helmet on). Not sure why they don't make it detachable, but I ordered the non-hooded version and am super happy with the jacket. I'll just wear a hat.

Responded on

I know this review is old but are there adjustable cords for the hood?

I just got one and I shall write a review around 1st wk of January 2015 since the temps are going to be mild in the North American East Coast.

I already have a Canada Goose hybridge jacket (Polartec version, maybe 2011?) And it's warm enough for the winter. It helps that it's breathable too.

Hi All,
how does this jacket fit? Smaller, to size or big?
Thanks,

This jacket being a regular fit should be pretty true to size, that being said I can't be 100% sure since we do not know to what standard you are comparing this to. Being in the style realm of puffy jackets, this is designed with layering over this jacket for extra protection against the elements so the center back length is designed shorter than your typical shell jacket.

See my review

It is TTS unfortunately. I wanted it Slim fit as suggested by CD themselves (on their website).

Really Wanted to Love this Jacket

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I thought I had found the perfect winter coat. I even exchanged the unhooded version of this coat for this one. However, when I tried to wear it to a football game (where the hood would have really helped), the hood was so big that it restricted my view of the game. I mean it's huge! If you need this level of facial protection because of the harsh nature of the climate you're in, this is good option. For "normal" winters in the mid-west, it's overkill. So, I returned it, and got the Lodge Jacket without the hood. Now, I'm a happy man!

I'm 6'4", 190 lbs, which poses a problem in terms of sizing with most jackets. Anybody have an idea what size (if any) would work for me with this jacket? Thanks!

Hey johp13580,

Thanks for the question. The weight on the Canada Goose Lodge Down Hooded Jacket - Men's is a bit over 1.5 lbs.

Hi everybody,
I'm interested in this jacket but I'm a bit scared it might not be warm enough. I live in Holland and typical winters are around -5 C (20-25 F) to +10 C (45-50 F) and very wet. Will this jacket keep me warm in these situations? Another question I have is: will I be able to ski/snowboard with this jacket? Thanks in advance.
Jeroen

Responded on

It will be warm enough for that temp range, the question is will it be water resistant enough, as it sounds like you will be using this as an outer layer. This type of jacket is best used as an insulating layer under a waterproof hard shell, where it will perform perfectly for what you describe. Wearing this as an outer layer in the rain runs the very real risk of getting your down wet, and wetness is downs one weakness, as it clumps and compresses and loses its insulating abilities.

Responded on

Thanks for the quick answer, saves me a lot of money. Maybe you know a suiting alternative?

Fantastic

Fantastic. A lightweight, puffy, Hutterite duck down filled hooded jacket. It's obvious Canada Goose really planned the design and worked out each detail in full. Things like a felt chin area. Zipper garages. Soft stretchy cuffs. Down filled waistband. A great hood seamlessly integrated with the jacket. Banded quilting to eliminate down movement. And just looking at how well made it is, you feel it's worth it especially since it's Fabrique Au Canada and filled with Canadian Hutterite fancy down (Hutterites = a religious group similar to say Amish). With its 2-layer windproof DWR shell, and sliding this puppy on is pure luxury. If you need a lightweight down jacket which is uber-warm and can still fit under your gore-tex shell if need be and packs in your backpack and doubles as a pillow, this is a great option.

For sizing, I'm 6' and 190-200 and an XL fits perfectly.

I'm 5'8" with an athletic 44 inch chest. I picked up a size Large, and it fit perfectly without looking bulky. I got the jacket because the Banf is too warm on milder winter days (I can't even drive with the Banf jacket on), and I am hoping this one can fit between.

LOVE IT

I can't say enough of this beauitful jacket.

I was doubtful when it first arrived, that it was sooo thin, buy didn't let that cloud my judgement.

When it is time, I will never buy another winter jacket from anyplace else.

It is the best jacket I have ever had.
