The Langford & the Chateau see to be quite similar. What are the main differences? I'm 6'2", 240lbs with a 40" waist...not exactly slim. Would an XL work for my size, please advise. Do you have black available in either of the latter in stock. Order pending, thanks! Tom. C

Responded on

Tom,
A couple of differences between these two parkas: 1)The Langford uses 650fill down compared to 625fill in the Chateau, 2) The Langford has a 36.5" center back length while the Chateau has a 34" CBL, 3) the Langford uses external cargo pockets while the Chateau uses diagonal hand pockets, and 4) the Langford has a velcro placket closure while the Chateau uses button closures.

(These differences are illustative but not exhaustive)

Langford fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I am 6-0", 185 lbs, 44" chest and the large seems to fit well...It is a "slim, athletic" fit. I consider myself average for my height, not skinny, not heavy....If I were heavier I might have to go to an XL
On another note I live in Buffalo and it is perfect on our cold days...Dressy enough for work yet casual enough for every day. I've traveled to Toronto and everyone wears these. They are quite the fashion statement up there.

is there a Canada Goose jacket with relaxed fit and button closures? The Expedition has relaxed fit but Velcro closures.
Where are the Canada Goose jackets made?

Responded on

Unfortunately Canada Goose does not currently offer a mens parka in a relaxed fit with button closures. The Banff Parka and Chateau Parka are listed on our site as regular fit, but they are in fact slim fit and are listed as such on Canada Goose's own website.

On the question of where Canada Goose jackets are made... wait for it... wait for it... CANADA! That's right! The greatest thing to come out of Canada since the Rick Moranis cult comedy hit "Strange Brew" (rent it tonight if you haven't seen it yet). All Canada Goose products are currently made in Canada except their gloves which are made in China, though CG is in hot pursuit of a glove supplier in their native land.

Medium will be a good fit for you. I think the small would be tight around the torso for sure.

Responded on

Considering this jacket has a more relaxed fit I think a medium should fit you very well.

Cannot be better!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

This is the perfect parka for South Korea's harsh winter!
My husband tried this on and he was so thrilled about how warm it was at the same time, it being so stylish!
It is not as heavy as what other reviews had said.

Responded on

Indeed, I'm out in South Korea too. Canada Goose is the "in" jacket this season now that they opened shop in Apgujeong.

Restocking

  • Fit: True to size

Hey, I was just wondering if you were going to be restocking the graphite/black in size small anytime soon.

Cheers!

Hello, I am:
5'7" tall
150lbs light
30-31" waist depending on type of pants
36.5-37" Chest (snug measurements, not loose or tight)
I feel is am in between sizes (S, M) for the chest, but definitely a Small according to Waist measurements.
I'll mostly be wearing casual clothes like a shirt or simple sweater, but once in a while hope to be able to wear a suit blazer underneath.
Which should I get, the Small or Medium? Will Medium be too big?

Any comments or feedback on the issue of down loss and coming out during use?
Thank you!

Responded on

Hey Tony,

Since you are on the upper end of the size chart for a size small and this is a slim fitting jacket I am going suggest going with a size Medium with this jacket so that you have a little room to breath.

Responded on

Hey man, I'm 5'7" 77kg, at the moment, athletic with bodybuilder physique. The small fits me well. The medium was too bulky. If you're just wearing button ups or hoodies underneath the small is the way to go especially since you weigh less than me. Cheers!

Responded on

Thank you for the feedback Heslin and Wayne!

An okay jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I'm 5'9, 150lb and the small fits me pretty well. Especially the sleeve length, it's perfect. Even though the fit and finish are great, I just could not bring myself to like this coat for one reason-- the double zipper. While it is over-sized and appears to be very durable, it is extremely difficult to get it to engage at the bottom of the coat. Since the coat is already long in the first place, and there is a sizeable strip of wind blocking fabric beneath the zipper, it is very awkward to even get the zipper into position. When you finally do get it in the right spot, it does not reliably engage. I want to emphasize that it isn't broken--it's just flimsy and hard to slip into place. If this was fixed it would be a nice coat.

Responded on

Agreed.

Dear Backcountry.

I have noticed that a lot of folks ask questions regarding the sizing of certain coats - and that you guys never give a reply. I personally find it rude that you are trying to sell high-end winter coats ranging up to a 1000$ but are not prepared to communicate just a little bit with your consumers. Since I am also one of these consumers that would like to purchase a coat from your respective company, yet also a person who doesn't live anywhere near a Canada Goose store therefore not being able to try a size one - I would be very grateful if you could, at least this one time, break your usual routine of consumer-ignoring and maybe answer my question regarding the sizing of the Canada Goose Langford Parka.

I am 6'1", 38" chest, weight 75 kg.

The Canada Goose sizing charts on they're official web site states that my chest size falls within the Medium sizing, although I have read on numerous other website that this product runs small, so am also taking a Large sizing into consideration.

Since this is a rather expensive coat, I would like it to fit right.

Thank you very much.

Best Answer Responded on

Hey Gregor,

Sorry if it seems like we ignore customers when they ask about sizing, I try to get back to anybody if I come across their question below the content on a product. Thanks for providing your chest size, you would be surprised how often people think that height and weight alone are a good indicator for jacket size. Now this jacket is a slim fit, but being that you are on the lower end of a Medium you would honestly probably be fine sticking with that size unless you plan on putting on some thick layers underneath.

Now since using the community content feature is more of an anybody can answer type of system sometimes we do miss stuff, and I am sorry about that. We hope that what gets missed does get picked up by other active partners like our vendor reps or other friendly long time customers who have had experience with the products. If you ever want to make sure your question is answered you can always contact our customer service reps. We have people on chat 24/7 that you can talk to at any time and get a live response. We are just one click away up at the top, all you need to so is click 'Live Chat'. Or if you want you can give us a call between 6am and 10pm Mountain Standard Time seven days a week at 800.409.4502.

Responded on

Thanks for all you do, Wayne, Lexi....everyone!! All we can ever hope to do is our best, and I know that you guys put it out there and man the line every single day with that in mind.

Gregor- You got an answer because you asked a legitimate question that provided the right information to respond to it accurately, not because of your grossly misplaced indictment, hyperbole and throwing what amounted to a tantrum.

Responded on

Hey Wayne and Phil,

yes, my initial comment could be described as something of a tantrum, but it was intentionally formulated as such because I actually had the impression that the staff of this site doesn't reply to questions regarding high-end items.

After Wayne's post I conclude that I was definitely wrong with my remark. Also, your clarification regarding consumers usually not supplying chest size data while asking about coat sizing - is something that has slipped my mind. Now that I have re-read some of those consumers comments I realize that you are right, they really haven't supplied chest size. Well, in that case, I must state - if consumers aren't thorough enough with the data in their questions - than you guys aren't obliged to reply.

Your reply has resolved my doubt, I will now definitely get a Medium. I am confident that it will fit and that I won't have to return it. Although it also seems, unfortunately, that I will have to purchase the coat from another retailer (from Canada Goose's authorized dealer list on their site) because it appears that you do not have the Langford coat in the color Navy. I do like the military green but would like to use this coat as a casual yet somewhat professional coat.

Nonetheless, you helped me out, so thank you very much, and forgive my tantrum.

May the Horned God Satan grant you happiness and willpower.

Best regards.

Responded on

Okay, thanks. Burn a candle or sacrifice a goat for me. I'll take it however I can get it.

Responded on

hey Gregor, i am pretty much your exact measurments, and i bought a large and a medium, expecting the medium to be better fitting in the body. It was, marginally, but the shoulders were too narrow and the arms way too short. If you're 6'1" and have a neutral or positive ape-index, you will find the medium too short in the arms, unless maybe you have very narrow shoulders. I had to go with large even though its a little loose in the waist for my skinny ass. Hope that helps.

Responded on

Hey man, thanks for the reply - and yes, your comment is very useful to me, to the extent that I am now changing my mind regarding sizing and will be going for a Large. I have a very-slightly positive ape-index, so if you really have tried both sizes on I will take your word for it and conclude that the Medium will be too short in the arms. I really hope you are correct with your observations while trying the sizes on, since your comment alone will be my prime referent while purchasing.

Regarding shoulders, I wouldn't say mine are narrow, rather of "casual-build" or simply saying, normal shoulder width for a slightly-above average build guy (although I am very good-looking nonetheless), but am definitely not the athletic swimmer type with huge shoulders. On that note, I will also take your indication of the shoulder narrow-ness of the Medium into account, since I am terrified of finally receiving my jacket when it comes to Europe and seeing that I am over-compressed and unable to move with ease within it. That would be a bummer. I am buying from the US since it's totally cheaper than from Europe.

I will have the jacket in a month or so probably, and will come back to this site to post my feedback, for future buyers to have an easier decision on their hands.

The Best

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share
  • Fit: Runs small

I own several Canada Goose coats and this particular coat is IMO far and away the best winter parka CG makes. It's comfortable to wear and looks stylish and will last you the better part of 10 to 15 years depending how hard and under what conditions you use it under. Also, Backcountry is an excellent bunch of folks to do business with.

warmth with a refined cut

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

Of all the Canada Goose coats I've looked at this one looks the most refined and could go from city to expedition pretty seamlessly. The longer length is nice and it wasn't too heavy. I feel a little conflicted about the fur edging, but it definitely adds to comfort and warmth - I just wish they offered an faux version. That aside it's very well made and will probably last for at least a decade.

Responded on

Hope you like your coat. But don't feel bad about the fur, since the ducks for down also get killed.

Responded on

I actually returned it, but that's a good point. I imagine whole duck is used - you don't hear much about coyote confit.
