What do you think about this product?

    Have questions about this product?

    Love this coat!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XS

I bought this coat in slate (green) and I keep getting compliments about it. It's super warm, fits perfectly and of very good quality. It is everything that I thought it would be and has met all of my expectations.

My only complaint is that the upper pockets are too shallow and my hands cannot fit completely inside. Other than that, I know that I've made a extremely wise investment since this winter coat will last for many years.

I'm actually wishing for colder weather so that I can wear (and show off) this coat more often!

I wanted to love this coat..

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium

I really wanted to love this coat. Especially given the price tag and all the rave reviews. However, it runs really small. I'm 5' 6" and 145 lbs and ordered a medium (that's normally my size). The middle portion of it was snug around my stomach AND (big and!) I couldn't zip the coat up all the way up around my chin. I thought the purpose was to be a wind guard. It was incredibly tight with no stretch around the chin. Maybe this was a defect coat?? So strange. I might try to order a large at some point. I returned it the next day.

I really wish I took pictures. I did appreciate the slim design, the quality of the materials, warmth and hood. But along with the collar/chin issue, the pockets were pretty shallow. I have an iPhone 6 Plus and I didn't feel secure in putting my phone in one of those pockets. Really unfortunate because I really hoped this coat would be IT for my big move to Chicago.

    Glad I purchased

I had been stalking this coat for a long time and finally broke down to order it. I'm very glad I did. It is objectively beautiful in an outdoorsy way. It also has some clever design elements that allows you to adjust the fit so you do not look like you are wearing a sleeping bag, a problem with my much-loved long down coats. Cosmetically it is beautiful, with nice buttons and other quality touches. You can tell the coat is special and I have received many compliments.

Note that the warmth I think will come from the heavy fabric outer shell finish, not necessarily the fill, which seemed light to me given it was 650. I think in the coldest situations (below -10F) you will still need to wear layers or double up with a small puffer. For the price, that may not be great, but given the beauty and other design elements that is ok with me. If you are buying this coat with the goal of owning the warmest coat of your life, you should consider a different model.

    Fabulous Coat!!!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this for a family member who shared the following review:

"Fabulous coat. We use this in wet wintry NY weather. It repels water but keeps warm in blizzards, ice storms and cold weather. its pricey but worth the price. Its comparable to the warmest North Face. The coat is really comfortable. Bulky but perfect for a cold winter day, when you want the bulk."

Canada Goose can do no wrong

I recently found out about this brand working with them at Sundance and they have won me over. Standing outside in 15 degree weather when its snowing with only a t-shirt and jeans the Canada Goose Expedition Parka kept my 100 pound frame from frost bite. I love the brand so much that I went ahead and purchased the Kensington Parka which is more ideal for Utah weather. The fit is amazing and true to size. FINALLY a parka that comes in XXS!!!

Never too hot and never, ever cold!

We gave this to a friend of the family. This is what she had to say about it:

How it compares I got rid of my previous puffy down parka from Patagonia to avoid looking like a granola wearing a grey sleeping bag, (because that’s exactly how the puffy long parka made me look and feel) and it wasn’t as water resistant as I needed it to be living in the snowy mountains. I overheated quickly in the puffy down Patagonia but this Kensington parka is every bit as techie, waterproof, temperature regulating, and aesthetically flattering as anyone could dream it would be. It may seem silly, but when you need to take off your parka, it’s heavy to carry in your arms, so the built-in shoulder suspenders will pleasantly surprise you. Canada Goose for the win.

Not so great about it I’m 5’10” and usually wear a women’s small but this new tailored fit is too snug, so size up! I usually keep my hands in the lower pockets because the upper pockets on the Kensington aren’t big enough to fit my hands, like the Trillium are. When I zip the coat up all the way to my neck it’s quite snug around my throat and when I put the hood on it’s a little stiff. I’m planning on the fabric either loosening over time or just trying to stretch it out.

Why I recommend it It keeps me totally dry, even in a wet snowstorm and the goose down regulates my body temperature perfectly. The fit is tailored, and allows me to customize it even more with waist cinchers and a backside button-down flap for air circulation. The coyote fur keeps snow out of my face, and the pockets are actually super warm. I am never too hot and I am never, ever cold. I wear this parka every day, it’s tailored fit is much more flattering than other parkas.

    Unbelievably Warm

Wife was consistently having winter coat issues so we opted for the Canadian Goose this winter and have not been disappointed. Extremely warm in snow and winter conditions with light layering underneath. Very, Very happy with the purchase. We re-ordered a Small so the jacket would be more snug in the midsection.

    Unbelievably Warm

This is a great jacket. I bought it for my girlfriend and she loves it. The fur is very nice on top and the adjustable straps makes it so everything fits the way it should. The fleece lined pockets were a pleasant surprise. She loves the fit of this jackets, its slim and warm without making her look like a marshmallow! The zipper is a bit obnoxious though, if it is not perfectly lined up it won't zip.

    Love at first try!

I was very hesitant to order this very expensive coat online without ever trying one on in a store, to say the least. But I bit the bullet and I am wondering why I waited so long. I wore it to my nephew & niece's high school football game last Friday. And wowza, I was so incredibly comfy. Never once got cold, not too bulky, perfect length for my body. I am 5'5", 118lbs. Measurements are 34-26-35. I am a bit more broad shouldered than most. I ended up ordering a size small and I have the waist cinchers pulled all the way as tight as they can go. I probably could have gotten away with an extra small but didn't want it to be too tight in the shoulders. The small fits me like it was totally made for me. It's a match made in heaven and I am actually looking forward to colder weather now because I have the right coat for the weather! Buy today, I promise you won't regret it!

    Nice Looking, Warm Coat

I haven't been able to test this coat in the cold yet, but I can tell you that it feels warm and looks great -- it will be perfect for getting to/from work on cold days this winter! I usually get small clothing, but I got a medium in this because I wanted to be able to comfortably wear a sweater under it. I'm glad I did! I think that a small might have been too small for bulky layers underneath.

    Not Warm

I did countless research in finding the warmest coat. Why did I listen to the owners who owned the Kensington Parkas! Yesterday's weather was about 12 degrees Farenheit and my arms were freezing. I know that there's no lining at all. If you're spending so much money and it swore up and down that it keeps you warm, then it should! Basically, you're purchasing the NAME. I'm extremely displeased with the Kensington Parka. Lastly, the more I stared at the coyote fur, the more turned off I was, it looks like a dead animal's tail on my head.

I see from your height and weight you are on the leaner side. My bet is you are more of an athletic fit. In this case your body is more susceptible to cold than others. More body fat = easier to warm body. Another factor is your genetic code. A great example would be myself. I am very vulnerable to my digits going numb even with the warmest mittens on the market and hand warmers in there. I go mountaineering with my buddies and notice while my hands are numbs theirs are sweating and they have gloves that are less insulating! Everyones body responds differently to the colder temperatures we expose ourselves to. Lastly is where you grew up. It has been proven that people who grow up in sub freezing temperatures can handle the cold better than people who have been living their life in Hawaii. The jacket it very good and legit. If you want better warmth around the hand/arms I recommend a expedition Jacket or a heavy weight down jacket. Western Mountaineering excels at this.

Due to the fact that the coat is advertised to be warm from 15 to -5 degrees I agree with you . I have a montebello parka which is the same warmth rating, and I can feel the wind on my arms at 30 degrees with it on if I only have one layer underneath. And I have muscular arms plus a little fat. And I grew up with Chicago winters. The cust srvc reps here will say anything. Down isn't really that warm until you move around a little in it once you're outside. It also works better with some layering. Maybe a wool base layer or a sweater over a long sleeve t. It's not a coat you can put on and go topless under. BUT The craftsmanship can't be beat and this coat will last longer than 5 $300 down coats. I love the functionality of these coats. And you will appreciate that hood if you have to walk upwind when it's the dead of winter. I walk up wind on a cold windy day with this hood zipped up and I can't even tell it's windy.
However your height weight and all of those other BS excuses the cust srvc are typical for them. A cust srvc rep from here once talked me into a 400 jacket saying it would keep me warm in 0 weather and I got it and it was a thick windbreaker.

    Of Questionable Value

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I'd been coveting the Kensington for over a year. I ordered it this past summer and looked forward to wearing it all winter.

First the pros: it provides protection and coverage from the elements from crown of head to knees. Perfect for wearing over the current trend of long sweaters and leggings. The hood is adjustable to keep it from hampering vision. The lower front pockets are deep enough to keep gloves or even a cell phone w/o them falling out. The snap kick pleat in the back allows for comfortable transits while sitting. I like the dual zipper for adjustibility. It's roomy enough for me to wear my light-weight jacket to the gym under it.

Cons: it stunk to high heaven out of the box. I'm glad it had a couple months to air out in my closet. The zipper is touchy and if the teeth aren't aligned *exactly*, forget it. The zipper also frequently snags on the inside fabric of the coat and refuses to be moved one way or the other. Since I must be zipper-challenged, I often use the toggle buttons, which are too small. Their placement is poor in that the top one is way too high, and the second one is too low to keep the wind out. The "handwarmer" pockets are ridiculously shallow. I barely trust a tube of chapstick to stay inside, much less a cell phone, or gloves, or car keys, and certainly not my hands. The middle snaps in the back vents come undone too easily. The interior pocket is too low to reach into without unzipping all the way and too high to reach into from the bottom. There would have been plenty of room to put the interior pocket at the breast for easier access. The velcro on the inside pocket snags my gloves when I reach inside it. If I remove my gloves, it scratches my hand. The velcro actually doesn't serve a purpose because once your cell phone is inside, it prevents the velcro from even touching.

Not necessarily the bang for my buck I was looking for, but I hope my review will give someone pause before spending hard-earned money.

    HELP

This parka is long in slim fit and in size chart doesn't indicated hips measures. My measures are 35-28-38, 2, height 5, 6'1, weight 132lbs. Which size will be better for me S or M? I prefer wear under jacket sweater.

      A true love for a Northern Canadian~

I have owned several nice down jackets and the Canada Goose Kensington Down Parka is by far the most true to its word and promise~

My only issue is with the length of the sleeves... for my arm length, they could be longer, or maybe manufacture sleeve extensions :)

Every detail on the design of this coat is well manufactured and nicely tailored~

As far as the shipping... it was well packed and delivered within 5 days.

I purchased my Canada Goose from the actual Canada Goose website~

      Most definitely an excellent purchase~

      P.S....

Beware of companies selling fake Canada Goose , they are the ones that are poorly manufactured and fall apart within one season. You might save a few dollars in the initial buy, however, you loose much more each time you wear it.

      Kensington Parka runs small.

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: Runs small

I purchased the Canada Goose Kensington coat for my daughter (age 25) who always wears a small or x-small in most brands. The size charts also confirmed my decision to purchase a size small. It fit her but was tight through the back, underarms, and the sleeves looked a bit short. So, the small was returned. It is not easy to find a size medium in this style after the holidays. If you're at all on the fence about size, order up! I gave it a 5-star review for what I saw of it's construction and materials alone as it was never worn outside.

I just received the basin and range parka in the mail and like it but I'm still on the fence. I wanted to know if you had any Canada Goose retailers near me?

Hey Caryn, Im not sure where you are located and what stores are around you, but if you would like to talk about this jacket please feel free to email me!

This Canada Goose is going to be a Higher Quality and a warmer jacket by far.

Hi! Will you be getting this coat in military green back in stock this winter?

      Thanks!
      Kacia

If I order size M and it turns out to be big, am I able to return it and get an S instead?

      Best Answer

      Hey Luca,

If you order the Medium in the Kensington Down Parka and it turns out to be too big, I can easily help you exchange it for the Small. I will even cover the return shipping costs. Also I can send you both sizes to try on and then you can return the one that does not fit for a full refund. Feel free to contact me directly with any more questions or if you are interested in setting up an order.

Hi, What size would you recommend for me - my measurements are 38-32-40, height 5'6, weight 145lbs. I'm deciding between the M and the L. I want to be able to wear jumpers underneath but don't want it to be too big.

When will you be ordering new shipments? I need a black XL before I move to Russia in Aug...

I am looking to buy the Kensington Parka as a gift. My sister is a size 14. Would a size Large be a good fit or should I go for an XLarge?

Will you be getting any more of these in in Black/Medium?

When will you be getting more sizes and colors in stock for the Canada Goose Kensington Parka? And are there any potential sales on these items on Backcountry?

Hi, I'm looking to buy a parka from Canada goose but am lost among the choices. All parkas seem to have 625 duck down fill power. What are the differences in them? I am looking for something long, extremely warm, and waterproof if possible. Thank you!

while canada goose sells it's coats in all sizes, most carriers only go up to xl. I was just wondering if you guys would be willing to order in, in a larger size?

      Unanswered Question

Is the winter 2014/2015 version anticipated to be very different than last season's version? If so, what are the differences? I'm debating between buying now/this weekend and waiting for the new version to come out (unless it already is out!). Thanks!

What size would you recommend for someone 5'4" and 125 lbs?

      Hey Lauren,

The best advise I can give would be to get your chest measurement and compare it against the provided size chart. Height and weight are too effected by the lower have of your body and could easily throw off deciding between two sizes.

If after you get your chest measurement and you are still unsure which size to get please give us a call or chat in and one of our Gearheads would be happy to help you out.

      nicole,

Unfortunately we do not have any more smalls in stock in the Canada Goose Kensington.

However, it looks like we do have size small in the Canada Goose Victoria and Montebello. We typically do have a good run of sizes for these parkas, but they have been very popular for us this year, and we are now fairly late in the season. Again, we do have some smalls left in select models and colors, but you can expect a broader range when we get the 2014-2015 models in stock around September.
