I bought this and tnf nupse vest...this is the better for rugged days due to the fabric, but tnf jacket is my preferred everyday vest. The Canada goose vest is everything you expect..purpose built and bulletproof construction. Sizing is a little smaller than tnf equivalent. The cg jacket has multiple pockets which is really handy...worth the cash.

I purchased this vest mostly on a strength of a review read here. The vest arrived and before putting it on viewed the materals. Quality! very durable looking. However, I purchased an XL after reading the review from the gent who was 6ft 3" 220 llbs. I'm 6ft 3" 230 and this vest looked an expensive "bib". This other gent must be all legs. Buy the XXL if you sport a man's physique, and enjoy the quality!

The quality of this vest is immediately evident when you open the package! It's shell is very durable and you can tell that it will last for quite a while! I've tried on several "high-end" vests in my search and the Canada Goose Freestyle is clearly in a different league! I was hesitant to spend the extra $$$$ but buyer's remorse was immediately cured when I opened the box, tried it on and took a look in the mirror! Buy this one, you won't be disappointed!
Good luck with your purchase!
On a separate note, Backcountry.com has earned a loyal customer and I will definitely recommend to my colleagues. The entire purchase experience was flawless! Thanks Back Country!

Got this almost right away and right away I did wear it! I live south of Lake Tahoe and this vest made me feel like I was in Miami! I, however am in the rounded side of the fit spectrum and the vest makes me look like the Michelin Man's cousin, as I ordered a size bigger than I usually wear. All in all, I'd buy this vest over again while I ignore my wife's and kids comment about Michelin!!!
Great Investment

This jacket fits true to size. im 6'2'' 203lbs and the XL fits perfect, room for a hood or sweater underneath, if you get a XXL expect it to float in the back when not zippered up because your body doesn't fill it out. The collar is amazing, full neck protection i doubt you would need a scarf while wearing this vest. This vest is really solid. Warm, durable, stylish, and very well crafted. I like pockets and this vest has alot of it. You cant go wrong with this vest.

Rugged - great fit and true to size - no smell that I notice (as some have mentioned). A little more expensive than the thin nylon shell types, but this is a vest you won't be buying again for a while - Looks like it will last forever.
Only negative for me is the Velcro closing inside pocket - I really dislike Velcro for that sort of thing - impossible to leave the pocket "open" and I hate pulling on Velcro to open a pocket. Minor nit though - great vest.

This vest fits well, looks great, and keeps me warm without rendering me immobile! What else could one ask for? If I lived in a colder climate, I would also buy a Parka.

very warm. i did not notice ANY smell which is what i read on some reviews. i am b/t XL and XXL but got this in XL for snug, not tight, fit. still roomy enough for sweathood underneath. keeps my core very warm. primarily used in 30-50 degree weather with long sleeve tshirt or sweats. very good for outdoor activities except would not recommend for running. also stylish enough(mine is black) for late night social activities. very good purchase!

If your size is European size 46-48, the vest size small fit perfectly.

This vest fits true-to-size and a Large fits me comfortably (6'1" 200lbs) with room for a hoody underneath.
Positives:
-Extremely durable: uses the same shell as many of the other Canada Goose jackets
-Stylish: while its highly subjective, I think the black looks fantastic especially since its quite rare to see relative to the Nuptse
-Warm!: Canada Goose prides itself on using high quality down and it shows
-Versatile: I can wear this over a fleece and then under a shell or by itself. I'm not hesitant to wear this by itself because of how durable it is.
-Fit: Not overly bulky
Negatives:
-Not packable: Because of the durable outer shell, it doesnt fold into itself like many other down vests
-Price: Noticeable price premium over other down vests
Buy this vest:
-If you like wearing a vest by itself without worry about snagging or ripping
-If you like wearing a vest under a shell
-Don't want to own a Nuptse vest (like everyone else)
Look elsewhere:
-If price is a major factor
-If you need a more technical vest that can be packed and thrown into a backpack
Coming from the Nuptse vest, I was pleasently surprised at how durable the Freestyle is. I'm definitely not worried about snagging or ripping the jacket to have down fly everywhere. Canada Gooes has recently become somewhat of a fashion statement but make no mistake, this is an extremely solid vest and while its not the most technical vest, is extremely versatile.

This is the Willys Jeep of vests - all function and no frills. Big zipper and big snaps. Outside pocket configuration is tops; non-zippered vertical openings for warming hands plus four others for your stuff. There is one inside pocket with a Velcro closure. Shell fabric feels tough enough to sand furniture - and resist rips and snags.
And it will keep you warm.
Great Vest

I have a few high-quality vests from names like North Face, Marmot and Feathered Friends. The Canada Goose product is heavier and as warm or warmer than any of them, and due to the heavier construction, seems like it will last forever. Lots of very useful pockets, and generally I like it a lot. Only two small gripes: first, it does seem to smell a bit like duck feathers when new...the smell fades after a few weeks, but you can smell it any time the vest gets damp or wet. Second, I find the size runs a bit small. The size chart shows the XL to fit a waist of 37-39, but it's a bit snugger than other XL vests on me. Otherwise, no regrets and I'd recommend it highly.

Dear Sir/MadamI am curious to know how this vest performs in an extremely cold climate and fits. I live in a fairly cold area with strong wind and snow. Also, does it fit snugly or loosely? Can one wear a topcoat or a jacket on top of it without appearing bulky? Lastly, should I obtain a down jacket as opposed to a vest? I figure that a vest would be more versatile, since one can layer up. Thank you.
