CAMP has put together the lightest Crampon/Ice Axe combo in existence to create the incomparable XL Racing Set. Adventure racers participating in Eco Challenges are required to carry both axe and crampon, and the XL Racing Set was designed with just that in mind. We love them for fast and light assaults on local peaks, and for nailing those elusive first descents while ski mountaineering. Check it out: XLC 390 Crampon is THE lightest semi-rigid 12 point crampon in the world, made entirely from a 7075 Aluminum Alloy including the heel throw and adjustment screws! These are not like some cheaper grade aluminum crampons we've seen out there—you can use these on rock, snow, and ice without fear of bending the points over. These weigh in at an amazingly light 13.9 ounces! That is not a typo, 13.9 oz. Tele boot compatible. CAMP's XLA 210 Ice Axe is the ultralight choice among axes, as well. Made entirely from 7075 Aluminum Alloy, it weighs in at 7.5 oz, c'mon! 45 cm length only. Combined together, this package is under 22 oz.—less than a pound and a half to spell it out. Suitable for classic and competitive ski touring, big mountain freeride ski mountaineering, and hiking classic alpine routes.

Quick crampons

These crampons are wonderfully quick and easy to put on ski boots. They are also strong enough to handle limited rock sections. One report queries whether they are 10 or 12 points. The answer is 12 points. One drawback is that they are adjusted by a screw, not the quick adjust on more recent versions of this crampon. They will not fit a hiking/climbing boot without a wide welt.
The ice axe is good on steep sections for which it was designed. It is too short for a walking stick.

I bought this XL Racing set for short tours in the backcountry. The crampons and axe are very light and nice for when things get a bit steep. Definitely not suitable for most mountaineering adventures but great for some of the mellower stuff. Again...so light!

These cramps and Axe are so light, it makes my balls hurt. I don't know what that means. But damn they are sweet.
