There's “lightweight” and then there's the CAMP Nano 23 Carabiner. At a ridiculously low 23g (that's less than an ounce), this CAMP carabiner makes just about everything else on the market seem like it's made of iron. Although its relatively small size may take it out of the running for hard sport climbs, the weight saved on long alpine routes and multi-pitch trad climbs makes a huge difference.

Bottom Line: What light really feels like.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

Awesome biners to add to any rack. I prefer the bronze color as it stands out against the rest of your gear. Easy to clip, sturdy, strong and reliable. Great as an extra biner for just about any activity when you want to keep it light. Grab a few of these to round out and lighten up your rack for any adventure that involves some technical work- mountaineering, canyoneering, trad, sport..etc.

Heavily discounted (March 2010) and LIGHT!

It would be great if the nose were notchless. Notchelss noses don't get hung up on slings, gear loops, wires on nuts and even ropes. It would be good if the nose were hooded. Hooded noses help prevent the gate being opened when the carabiner hangs against rock with features. It would be awsome if these were full size.

You want that? Then buy Wild Country Helium carabiners, they are only 33 grams.

But if you want to shave a little weight (and save money while doing so) then the CAMP Nano 23gram biners are a good choice. If you exchange 40 biners, and save 10grams each biner, then your total weight reduces by about a pound. If the biners you're replacing are 50grams and you exchange 50 biners then your weight reduces by over 3 pounds!

The small size of the body was different from my past experience, but in 100 pitches of climbing on a recent roadtrip I'm learning to grab the entire body of the biner when making a clip, rather than placing a single fingertip at the bottom of the hood. It's a different style of clipping and once learned I'm sure it's just as natural.

These are heavily discounted by all retailers; I bet CAMP is soon releasing an upgrade / update to this design.....

small n light

This biner is awesome as a bail biner or to hang stuff onto. It's small and light so you will never feel it on your harness.
Too small to replace quickdraw biners though but that's not the point.

Lose weight without guilt

I really dig these little biners. I use them on my caving chest harness to attach to my chest ascender. So light weight, it doesn't even feel like it's there!

Good solid biner

Pick up some of these to have around as extras. Cheap, quality, just a good standard non-locking biner.

Nano is right if light is.

Small, small, small, light, light, light. These are great little biners and they don't get much more little than this for climbing. The opening is correspondingly small, they would be VERY tough to handle with gloves on and they give up a little in ultimate strength, but if light is right for you these might be the only way to go. One exception: if light AND color-coded is helpful to you, the Black Diamond Neutrino wiregate offers a wider selection of bright colors (which exactly match those of their cams, natch) in return for a very slight weight (and size?) penalty compared to the Camp Nano. Color-coded rack not on your list? The Nano is the lightest of them all.

toy biner

I got a bunch of these and paired some with long BD spectra dogbones. I like taking too much gear and sewing it up when I get scared. These lightweight biners make that possible. They are much smaller than a standard biner, so they will probably be harder to handle with gloves in winter.
