Simple, efficient

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a simple tarp that does the job it's meant to do. It's fairly large, which is nice if you're like me and you're not always careful where you flake your rope. It has a pocket and 4 loops to tie the ends of your ropes. Nothing fancy, but definitely gets the job done.

Nothing fancy but it works.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

So its a rope tarp with a pocket. It has tie in loops at all 4 corners for keeping track of the working end of the rope. It can be rolled up with the rope in side and put in a 42 litre pack and still have room for a full trad rack. Keeps the dirt out of your rope to some extent and keeps it out of the water as well. Well worth the investment.

I'm looking at buying one of these cause the price seems right. I know it's simple and looks mostly just like it is a tarp with a pocket in it. How is it to fold up? Is there any draw strings on it or anything to carry it alone? How does it fold up to put in your pack? Comfortable? Do you like it or would you rather have a rope bag?

The FOIC Rocky Tarp is a beautifully simple rope tarp that doesn't have any draw strings that will break over time. One big pocket inside the tarp holds the rope. It easily slips into a pack unlike most bulky rope bags. The best part of this is that a percentage of every sale goes to the Friends of Indian Creek!
