Good on Ice, Poor Geometry for Rock

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Great middle-of-the-road tool for all kinds of ice. Nice stick with less effort than most other tools. I only found it lacking once in the realm of super steep/overhanging wild blobby jungle ice, where offset grip tools shine. However, for reasons I can't quite put a finger on, these feel terrible dry tooling. Something about the geometry seems to make the pick more likely to come off edges. It's amazing how much better other similarly purposed all-around tools (Quark, North Machine) feel on rock. For that reason, hard to recommend these for 'alpine', given how often rock is involved. But for pure ice, great tool at a good price.
