Bridging the gap between technical ice tool and full-length ice axe, the Alpax sports an interchangeable T-rated pick and curved upper shaft to clear ice bulges. This CAMP ice tool comes with a solid Alpax leash and is available with a hammer or adze to match any terrain in the mountains.

These tools work just as well as they are advertised. The spike bites like a knife into hard snow, the picks (both styles) bite well into ice. I have used these tools on many multi pitch ice climbs in Colorado as well as on steep snow and alpine ice. Overall a great tool although the carabiner hole is tiny and thus worthless.

K been using this axe for 2nd winter season now and i like it more then my older normal touring simond bronco axe . Alpax is great combined with a tehnical tool for alpine valleys when u need an axe to stabilize your walk there and then also help you climb that overhanging ledge. only downer i do not like is the small carabiner hole in the adze would have liked to it be a bit bigger to fit more sizes when making a ensuring point with 2-3 tools .
