Premier Car Camping Gear

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I recently purchased this two burner stove as an upgrade to our stove situation for car camping. Prior to this we were using the tiny backpacking stove for all our cooking needs. Man, was this upgrade needed. To be able to cook my breakfast and have hot coffee at the same time?! Like a little camping dream come true. The burners are easy to light ( even if you have mild irrational fears of them ). Overall it has an easy set up and works well for small or large groups. As noted in a previous review, it is also awesome for brewing! The only downside to this is that it does not come with a bag or carrying case for all the parts.

Beach barbeques are the best.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love taking this burner down the beach and making burgers for anyone that passes by. I have yet to have a problem with it.

Awesome for brewing and beyond!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this primarily for home brewing, but it will serve perfectly for camping as well. I'm very impressed with the burner control even with the high output. You can go from simmer to full on blaster with these burners, well worth the additional price paid as opposed to the regular 30K burner stove. Using this over the winter, even on days well below freezing, I was still able to get 8 gallons of water to 180 F in under 20 minutes, and still have a nice rolling boil with low to medium burn, and 12 gallons boiling.

Stoked to use it!

Haven't really had a chance to use it but looking forward to it. Bought this as a replacement for my explorer 2 which a friend had "borrowed" from me haha. Initial setup you could tell the difference between them. Glad I picked this up for sure. Will post pictures once it gets some use.

Great Camping/Outdoor Stove

This stove is a no-joke kick-butt piece of equipment. It's heavy-duty frame can support anything we put on it. We put a huge camp pot with 8 gallons of water and not only did it not budge but it heated up the water in record time. It cooked everything evenly and is super reliable. I would recommend purchasing the "Camp Chef Carry Bag - 2-Burner Camp Stove" for transportation. It keeps everything together and makes it super easy to store.

First impression

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The camp chef was quick and easy to step up and just as easy to take back apart and store. The design is very stable as it survived a night outside in a wind storm without toppling. This grill is a great addition to my weekend racing trips!

Fantastic stove

Love this stove. Got it to use for canning and it is perfect. I canned chicken and this stove held the pressure on my pressure canner steady at 11lbs for two batches(90 min. each). It's big enough for two canners and can use it for a stove if we are without power. I love that it is cast iron and very heavy and sturdy. A great product.....

Gettin' older

Now that I'm getting older, I do more base camping and day hiking. The camp chef outdoorsman is a great addition to camp. It performs well at altitude (9000 ft) and easily cleans up. Big enough to cook meals for visiting friends an family members too.
