Get a three burner.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I used this stove doing a DH camp for a bunch of High School kids.

50 plus people for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a week. Granted I only used the stove here and there. But when you pull up and can crank out 60 plus quesadillas on a double griddle and still saute your filling on the third burner. This thing gets it done.

I also like the 3 burner because it gives you a work space if you are only using one burner. I use the griddle as a counter and have everything at close reach.

I also used it for a wedding I catered at a barn for a 100 people. Out in the middle of a field I was using two large frying pans and the last one for sauces. This thing allowed me to crank out a bunch of food at once.

Would I use it for camping? Unless it is a huge group it just seems a bit overkill. I use mine the day after Thanksgiving each year as I take the carcass of the 24lb to 28lb bird and make a huge 6 gallon vat of turkey soup. I used to use my turkey fryer but it was just overkill with having that much of a blast furnace underneath. Once you get it up to simmer all you need is a decent flame underneath.

I really like the stove. It gives me a ton of options for the things I like to do.

What is the minimum BTU per hour that the burner needs to lite. I'm worried that 90,000 is too powerful for most applications and that its low end BTU output might be too strong for simmering.
