An Amazing Bag
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I have used this pack hiking in Arkansas, California, and Colorado. If you are looking for a pack solely for the bladder, do NOT get this pack. It is meant for a day hike/traveling, and has many useful compartments. People are always amazed at how much I can fit in this bag, and always have water available to me. I have fit a jacket, 2 swimsuits, 2 water bottles, a book, snacks, a headlamp, a phone, a flashlight, bug spray, sunscreen, 2 sunglasses, a hairbrush, a towel, a book, and still had room for a few small things. It is stylish, flexible, comfortable for long hikes - I can't say enough good things about this pack!
Not for hiking
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
If you're looking for a backpack for around town or school, this would be a good choice. For backpacking, not so much. It's heavier than it needs to be and the hip belt does virtually nothing. It does have ample pockets, great cargo room and is very well made. Had no problems at all with the hydration system, works great.

Good for very light hiking
- Gender: Female
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I bought this backpack for hiking/school. It was much too small for even a couple binders, and the bottle holders on the side pushed into the main compartment's space. I wanted to use this for hiking also, but it turns out it doesn't have enough space for more than a day hike. Not worth the price for just a light hiking backpack. Great color though, and the weight stays close to your body!
Love this backpack! The side straps are very well designed to synch the bag down flat when it isn't very full so the weight stays close and streamlined to my body so it doesn't jiggle around when I move. The straps are highly adjustable and fit like a glove, the back is padded enough to protect my back from the discomfort of lumpy gear, but still allows a little air to circulate to minimize sweat. The belt is wide enough to be comfortable but not too bulky. I love that it is detachable.
I chose this backpack over many others because it can comfortably carry my very large yoga mat. Because the upper side straps are placed high on the pack, one can put a yoga mat vertically in the main cavity of the bag, synch down on the straps and carry it securely. You can also carry a yoga mat horizontally by slipping the outermost pocket over the mat and then attaching the top straps.
This is the second Camelbak brand backpack I've bought and I couldn't be more pleased.
