When you’re tired of reaching into your pack for a drink and finding a frozen brick, slip CamelBak's Stoaway Hydration Reservoir into your backpack's hydration sleeve, and keep your water flowing on cold winter days. D-Ring attachments let you strap the reservoir to the outside of a pack, and the external port makes refilling easy. The OMEGA HydroTanium reservoir uses an antimicrobial compound to block bacteria, so you can stay hydrated with fresh, clean-tasting water.

Bottom Line: Add hydration to your winter packs with CamelBak's Stoaway Bladder.

Suck on it!

I love the versatility of this piece of gear. Use it in the summer without the insulated pouch, or tuck it into an avalung pack in the winter.

Hey Sharon, you don't need to remove the reservoir in order to clean it, BUT if you do want to remove it, you need to push the cap/holder piece back into the insulated sleeve... it seems like its fixed to the insulated sleeve, but it does remove!

Used 2+ Years & Still Love It!

By:
February 3, 2011

Unlike most people here, I've used this primarily in the summer for the past two years. It has gone on countless trips and is still kicking strong. I load it in the morning full of ice, but it actually insulates so well (even in 100+ weather) that I have to also add water in order to get any amount of drinkable water--otherwise it'll stay mostly ice even by the end of the day.I haven't used this for the winter, but do you guys put hot water in it, or just warm?

My only complaint is that the "clips" are practically useless--at least I haven't figured it out. I usually just toss this into a backpack. How exactly do you clip it onto anything?

I am also wondering, like Chris, if in the summer you could remove

I am also wondering, like Chris, if in the summer you could remove the bladder from the insulation to save space?

Yes. Isolation can be removed and use the bladder without it. Actually removing is a must for deep cleaning of system at the end of the season.

Excellent standalone CamelBak

By:
September 2, 2010

Either throw it in your pack, clip it on the outside, this CamelBak is just right for whatever. Standalone, insulated, and plenty of clips to strap to or on, this bag goes where you want it. I usually clip mine out the outside of the pack so I can get to it, and there's just enough hose to reach my shoulder straps and clip on. The cover on the bite valve is nice for winter excursions up here in Alaska, preventing damage to the bite valve by ice. Seen here on a Mountain Hardwear Super Scrambler in Caines Head State Rec Area, Seward, Alaska.

This isn't a pack, it's an insulated Camelbak reservoir so that it doesn't freeze in winter. This would go in a hydration-compatible pack.

Good but I expected it was tasteless

By:
October 18, 2009

I was expecting this feature at the minimum, so I bought this brand to go assured. So far I have use it four times and used with only water on it and flavor gets continuously stained with some plastic flavor. I have kept it overnight with water on it and empty on the morning and filling it back before going out but still not good. I wonder if some more break-in is needed. Anyway may be this is a general problem on all bladders regardless the brand. Construction and materials is great and isolation keeps the frost away fine and there are no leaks and because in the end the main purpose is to keep you hydrated I still give it 4 stars.

Overall Very Good

By:
November 13, 2009

This reservoir is overall very good. I haven't had any problems with an off-taste. I have two minor gripes about this though: for starters, it isn't very easy to get the bladder out of the insulation sleeve. More like pain in the ... The second problem is that in very cold weather, the water will freeze in the mouthpiece, and you'll be trying to thaw and/or crunch a block of ice in your bite valve.

After you take a drink in cold weather or even hot weather to prevent it from getting really hot in the tube. Just give it a puff of air to clear the hose and mouthpiece forcing the water back into the bladder.

You can NEVER have too much water.

By:
August 15, 2010

This a great way to add water to ANY rig you may be traveling or adventuring with. The d-rings allow for attaching to the outside of anything: pack, boat, sled, cart, etc. Or throw it in your compatible pack for extra insulation.
