Description

Carry only what you need.

You’re going for a long run or bike, not setting up shop in the backcountry—carry only what you need in the CamelBak Octane XCT Hydration Pack. This lightweight, minimalist cross-country trail pack carries up to three liters of water in the new, improved Antidote reservoir, as well as a few essentials in the cargo pockets on the hip belt and shoulder strap. Back bungee cords hold your lightweight shell, just in case you encounter a squall.
  • New Antidote reservoir includes a lightweight, quick-seal cap, folding arms on the port to speed drying, and baffles in the body that allow the reservoir to maintain a lower profile when full
  • New Quick Link system in reservoir allows you to quickly snap off the tube for cleaning and easily attach accessories like filters, flow meters, and insulated tubes
  • Air Channel back panel features breathable mesh to help you keep your cool on warm-weather hikes
  • Hip-belt with cargo pockets keeps the pack from bouncing around and stows your energy bars and a trail map
  • HydroGuard anti-microbial technology inhibits bacterial growth on reservoir and tube surfaces
  • Ergo Hydrolock shut-off valve allows you to control water flow and prevents leaks
  • Distance from shoulder to hip belt: 16in (40cm)

Comfortable Pack

I purchased this pack and found it to be quite enjoyable and light. However, one of the times I went on a hike, I incorrectly sealed the bladder cap. This resulted in constant leaks and got the inside of my pack wet (as well as a loss of water). I found having the silver dot on the cap point up prevented this problem.

Is the bladder removable?

The camelbak webiste says this pack holds 100 oz. Does it come with 70 oz or 100 oz? Can the water pouch be removed?

Responded on

The 100 oz refers to the water bladder - the newer (for 2011) Camelbak Antidote 100 oz version. The 2010 version of this pack came with the 70 oz bladder that Hunter referenced above. I believe that Backcountry needs to update the "Reservoir Volume".

Light weight and doesn't bounce around

With a 70 oz fluid capacity this is my hydration pack of choice for runs up to four hours long. It has one compartment on the back of the pack near the fill hole. It's great for carrying a cell phone, car keys and your wallet. There are two small zippered side pockets that can hold gels, bars , TP and other small items but overall there's not a lot of storage. I use the Octane mainly as a hydration pack and carry my food items in the pockets of my Race Ready shorts. This pack is good for long races because it is light, fits snug to the body and doesn't bounce around.
