Description

Much lower maintenance than a pack mule.

Packing a little less volume than Camelbak's flagship mountain bike hydration pack but every bit as capable, the M.U.L.E. NV Hydration Pack is if you need a lot of water and plenty of storage, but also need to keep an eye on the amount of weight you're carrying. The M.U.L.E. is packing a full three liters of water and over 700 cubic inches of storage space. Camelbak's new Antidote Reservoir graces the hydration sleeve of this beauty, and it's loaded with features that make it easier to fill, easier to clean, and easier to live with.

The M.U.L.E. is more than just a big bag of water, though. From the advanced NV suspension system designed to keep the load away from your back to the fixed waist belt with easy-access cargo pockets, the M.U.L.E is a night-and-day improvement over your old hydration pack even before you come to the revolutionary Antidote reservoir.

  • NV back panel with articulated pods for a fully ventilated back panel that keeps the load suspended away from your back
  • New Antidote reservoir includes a lightweight, quick-seal cap, folding arms on the port to speed drying, and baffles in the body that allow the reservoir to maintain a lower profile when full
  • New Quick Link system in reservoir allows you to quickly snap off the tube for cleaning and easily attach accessories like filters, flow meters, and insulated tubes
  • Ample main compartment and multiple exterior pockets hold your rain gear, multi-tool, pump, spare tube, lunch, MP3, phone, wallet, and keys, while XC helmet carry stows your dome protector
  • Fixed .75-inch belt with cargo pockets keeps the pack from bouncing around as you bomb downhill
  • HydroGuard anti-microbial technology inhibits bacterial growth on reservoir and tube surfaces
  • Ergo Hydrolock shut-off valve allows you to control water flow and prevents leaks
  • XC helmet carry stows your dome protector

Bright Shamrock/Charcoal

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is my first CamelBak pack. I did my research on several different hydration packs, including trying them on in store before settling on this one. Went with a 3L pack because I can add less water if needed. The pack is a bit heavy, but well worth it for the amount of stuff you could potentially carry!

I bought this to take it hiking (3+ hours). No issues. The 3L water pack provides plenty of water for those who hike in the Arizona Desert.

Review is geared towards people who may be new to hydration packs and the Antidote reservoir system.

Hydration System Review

- fits well against my back, good support especially when using the hip belt.

- the reservoir attaches to a handle (baffle) inside the pack, keeping it from sliding down.

- tubing runs through the top and through one of the straps on the pack. I wasn't aware of the clips on the strap but it keeps the tube in place.

- Hidden dryer arms are fantastic. It's confusing to see where they are unless you watch the video. I recommend having something you can hang it on like a towel rack.

- filling the Antidote reservoir was hard, a bit difficult to close especially if you fill it up all the way. Definitely recommend doing it in the sink. (I use RO or purified water, keeps it clean).

- I had trouble the very first time attaching the tube to the reservoir, wouldn't connect all the way and leaked. Second time, I practiced before filling it, no issues.

The NV back panel system with articulated pods - I didn't notice much of a difference between having this on my back or nothing, so it does a good job of ventilating, but back still gets sweaty.

The cargo pockets on the hip belt do not hold an iPhone 5...it's easy to take the pack off and swing it around to access it if you need it and put it back on.

Quick note - if you get it with white on it, dirt gets on it quickly. Colors are also true to picture.

Overall, this is well worth it and I am very happy for a first-time hydration pack user!

BEST HYDRATION PACK.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this everyday. I commute to school and work and this pack is my trusty companion! The pack has enough room for a small binder, a book and even my fleece. I also throw in my wallet, bike lock, pump, and a snack. The 3L reservoir hold the perfect amount of precious water. On weekends, this pack comes along on hikes and longer bike rides. I'm planning on taking this on a backpacking trip as a smaller pack for exploring.

Put this bag through the wringer!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased this bag more as a universal all around smaller backpack. It has performed perfectly. I use it daily for commuting to work, but then on the weekends have used it for anything from long distance trail runs to smaller sport climbing approaches.

I have only owned this bag for a summer, but with everyday use and consistent overloading. I am very happy with my purchase. The bag is still in perfect shape, colors are a little faded after a few mandatory washes but that is to be expected when you treat gear as I do.

Happy with this pack

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Wanted a pack for longer rides that held more water, but this pack is so comfortable that I use it for all my rides. This pack has tons of features from helmet hooks, to soft lined gadget pockets, making it the perfect MTB pack.

Another great camel bak product.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Holds plenty of water for a day trip. Has a LOT of storage space with a bunch of pockets. My only knock is that it didn't do to well in the rain. After only about 15-20 minutes in a light rain, the contents of my bag had gotten pretty wet. If you are just doing day rides or hikes and it wont be raining, this is a good bag for you.

This Pack is Great!

This pack is the best little hydration pack I think you can get for a day ride in the mountains! I would say the best part about it is that the soft dry pocket for electronics is great because it is padded enough that when you fall it will most likely not break them! It is not too big, not too small, its all around great!!! Picture will be coming! Love the color schemes too!

Great bag

I have the older version of this pack, but I still love it. I use it for everything from hiking, to canoeing trips, etc. Great fit and venting, love the colors, can fit full sized 3L bladder in it. Zippers function great, cool compartment to keep all of the small stuff organized. Lots of room, overall great pack for all around use, or for the intended purpose of shredding mountain bike trails.
