Brilliant inspiration part deux.
The original Camelbak hydration reservoir was a stroke of genius that changed the way we hydrate forever. The Camelbak Lumbar Reservoir is Camelbak genius 2.0. the Lumbar Reservoir improves on the original idea by putting the weigh of the water on your hips, which is a more efficient and less tiring place to carry your water. Of course, the Lumbar Reservoir includes all the smart features of the upright Antidote Reservoir, it just changes the way you carry it.
- Lumbar design puts the weight of the water on your hips, a more efficient and less fatiguing place to carry weight than on your back
- New Antidote reservoir includes a lightweight, quick-seal cap, folding arms on the port to speed drying, and baffles in the body that allow the reservoir to maintain a lower profile when full
- New Quick Link system in reservoir allows you to quickly snap off the tube for cleaning and easily attach accessories like filters, flow meters, and insulated tubes
- HydroGuard anti-microbial technology inhibits bacterial growth on reservoir and tube surfaces
- Ergo Hydrolock shut-off valve allows you to control water flow and prevents leaks

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Super durable and easy to pack. Nice that they have one specifically for a fanny pack.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
These lumbar reservoirs are sweet, rather then placing the reservoir in the middle of the back Camelbak has some packs that use the Lumbar reservoir design which helps add back support while also dispersing the weight downward like you would typically do when packing a pack. Especially helpful during longer bike rides and hikes
CAMELBAK Lumbar Reservoir

Very well made like all Camelbak bladders. Not exactly as pictured, doesnot have the "side wings", more of a rounded triangle shape. Love the ability to quick attach/release the drinking tube.
Antidote Lumbar Reservoir Overview
The Antidote reservoir collection includes a size and fit for every activity. Lumbar reservoirs keep the water weight low and on your hips. Features a wide opening quarter-turn cap making it a snap to open and close, and a QuickLink system for customizing your hydration.
Will the 3L reservoir fit in the Camelbak Charge LR? It came with the 2L lumbar reservoir. The 3L looks a lot different (I think the 3L picture needs to be changed)

I have a Kelty Trekker 65. It has a horizontal hydration pouch and I've had a hard time finding a horizontal hydration pack for it. I tried a CamelBak Antidote Vertical Reservior but, predicably, it was hard to get good water flow after it was half empty. Thought this might be a good solution. What are the dimensions of the 2L and is this a good option or is there somethig else out there I don't know about that would work better?
Kinda to reiterate what I said to Eric below I do not suggest these packs for any packs that do not have a compatible lumbar pouch as these are designed to wrap around the body and rest on the hips. Its that specific shape and the pressure put on the bladder against the body that is what keeps this from bunching and the water getting blocked up.
Maybe try out the Osprey Hydration system if you are having troubles with Camelbak, they are typically wider and have a thinner profile than the Camelbak bladders and might work better with your system.

How well do you think this system would this work with a north face patrol 34 pack?
Unfortunately it wouldn't, these lumbar reservoirs are great but the need to go in the few packs on the market that are actually designed for them. The pack that these fit into will actually have them wrapping around into sections of the hip-belt and if the pack isn't set up for that then you are going to end up folding parts over onto themselves and its just going to be an inefficient mess. For your pack you are going to want to stick with a vertical reservoir for now.
thanks Wayne! Really appreciate the feedback!

What are the dimensions of the 3 liter Camelbak Lumbar reservoir?
Is the quick disconnect from the bladder automatic shutoff?
Is there an option for a right angle bite valve?
The Antidote 3L Lumbar Reservoir has the following dimensions when full of water:
11.4 x 11.25 x 2.9 in / 29 x 28.5 x 7.3 cm
Yes, the Quick Link disconnect provides auto shut-off, and if you buy the 3L Lumbar it does come with an ergo bite valve (the right angle one). 2L Lumbar comes with the straight bite valve.
