CamelBak's Hellion Hydration Pack carries your skis, board, shovel, and extra layers for your backcountry rides. Fill the three-liter water reservoir and head out in search of un-tracked powder. A padded waist-belt takes the weight off your shoulders when you travel with a heavy load, and the fleece-lined goggle pocket keeps your shades safe while you hike up. Pack your music player in the Hellion Hydration Pack's padded MP3 pocket and set a ripping pace. The leakproof bite valve won't drip all over your jacket after you take a sip, and this CamelBak backpack's durable water reservoir keeps going season after season.

Bottom Line: Go where you wanna go with CamelBak's Hellion Hydration Pack.

Awesome Day Ski Pack

By:
May 30, 2010

I love this pack.
I have a pile of packs that go unused as day trippers.
But this one is real efficient.
Fits shovel with handy handle clip on the side of the pack, loops for ice ax if needed. Will hold a down sweater, sweater, winter gloves, spring gloves, skins, goggles, vest, lightweight gore pant and jacket and still has room for snacks, lunch and water.
The hydration sleeve is on your back and the insulated sleeve works effectively. As the other reviewer said, it can be an inconvenience, if I don't plan on getting the hydration mouth piece in the right location, but a minor inconvenience at worst. It is the right size for me. It's a little hassle getting the skis on the pack with a shovel, but the system works. I like the pack straps have a webbing attachment to the pack so they flip over easily to access the water reservoir.
It is a well thought out pack and worth every penny you pay for this daytripper.

The pack gets a 5 for materials, construction, and strap management, which are first rate. The big problem with this pack is the design of the water tube sleeve in the shoulder strap. It is way to tight and the zipper sits underneath the sternum strap. This arrangement makes it impossible to get the tube out wearing mittens or thick gloves and requires unclipping the sternum strap to access enough tube length to get a drink. The pocket design is ok although I prefer two large compartments not one huge subdivided one. Separate external goggle and electronics pocks are a plus in the Hellions favor.
Although I am a longtime Camelbak customer (own 3 others) I sent this one packing and went with a DAKINE Tactic.
