Description

Because hydrated hikers are happy hikers.

CamelBak created the Women's Helena 22 Hydration Pack for three-hour to all-day hikes enabled by three liters of fresh H2O from its Antidote reservoir. S-curved pack straps and a comfortable waist-belt, both designed to fit a woman's shape, let you load up this bag's 1160 cubic inches of storage space and head into the mountains without looking back. Tough double diamond and nylon fabric can easily put up with the rigors of a little bushwhacking while the DWR and PU treatments deny rain the chance to soak your belongings. The breathable Air Channel back panel and Air Mesh harness keep you cool amid the spring and summer heat by redirecting air through, rather than around, your back and shoulders. Throw your necessary trail items into the Helena's front or side pockets; you could even pack an extra water bottle or two if you plan to extend your three-hour hike. As you drain your water supply, compensate the empty space by tightening down the compression straps and returning the Helena to its comfortably snug fit.

Season after season, CamelBak's super scientists have been hard at work refining and perfecting the Antidote reservoir, the industry's most popular solution to hydration. At the turn of a cap (a quarter turn to be exact), you can open or close the reservoir, refilling and securing it again in seconds. Center baffling and a sleek design prevent your water from jostling about inside your pack while running, hiking, or hitting the park. When not off exploring the world, simply disconnect the tube using the Quick Link System and hang up the Antidote for proper drying or storage. Since last year, CamelBak's go-to reservoir system has actually lost some weight, reducing bulk in the fill port and offering you that much more convenience.

Great All Day Pack

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was looking for a pack large enough to load up for an all day adventure, but small enough that it was still light and comfortable, and let me run a few miles without weighing me down. This pack came pretty close to perfect. We did 25 miles in a day--a combo of fast walking and jogging, (you know, wogging) with a few miles of pretty intense scrambling.

The PROS: You can fit aLOT in this pack. I had a long sleeve shirt, a rain jacket, extra socks, a water filter, a small first aid kit, a headlamp, and enough calories for a 700lb man.....and I could have fit more in. For hiking, it is very comfortable, and tightens up nicely so I didn't feel like I was tipping over when we were scrambling up steep terrain.

CONS: It wasn't ideal for running. I knew it wouldn't be--I'm used to a tiny race vest but I was still able to run quite a few miles in it. It was a bit bouncy and awkward, but doable for the most part. Someday Camelbak is going to catch on and put a pocket or two on their straps. It's so nice having your sunglasses/phone/stinger right THERE in easy reach.

Overall a great pack for all day.
