When you’re headed deep into the backcountry on an all-day ride, carry the Camelbak H.A.W.G NV Hydration Pack to lug your gear and quench your thirst. Camelback’s new Antidote reservoir, which offers a host of new cutting-edge features, slides into a reservoir compartment that’s been redesigned for better comfort and stability. The new NVIS back panel allows your back to breathe on sweaty climbs, and an included rain cover lets you ride out the storm.

Bottom Line:

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

Adventure on your back

Camelbak is making the best hydration packs, and while I use a different one for daily Mt. Bike rides, this one is great if you need to bring a little more. A jacket, a pic-nic, and great for gear like cameras and all the accessories. My girl has a big digital camera and while I seem to be carrying it, she loves the bag because it is easy to get in and out of. The side pockets are great for accessories and the bag fits great. Love these bags.

Hey, is this HAWG NV pack the 2010 version? just curious, because i can't find the teak/green (brown) colors anywhere here in the U.S. Ive seen the 09' packs of this version that are teak/green. I have also read that the teak/green color scheme is only international.

thanks.

Hey Kyle,
All the ones we are carrying are 2010 models. I checked camelbak's site and our colors match up with theirs. According to the inventory we do have the "Teak/Grey Green" which I would guess is the color you are talking about. Its possible that the one you saw looks slightly different from the one we have pictured (that happens sometimes..overexposure, colors get washed out, etc)but we do have that color.

Bottom line:
Yes, they are 2010's and yes we have that color option.

Hope that helps.

Roomy pack for all your gear

By:
July 13, 2010

This is one of the bigger hydration packs you'll see. It can carry a lot of gear but it makes for a bulkier load on your back. You can even carry 6 liters of water with its back to back bladder compartments. The internal spine is a huge plus: it keeps the pack a good 1" of your back and creates a good airflow. It includes a drainage hole at the bottom of the back pack. It is big enough to fit an entire helmet completely inside the pack( or full face on the outside). Rain fly is stowaway

I have the Camelback Trailblazer the I really like but all the weight is on the shoulders and starts giving me a back ache. Does this pack put the weight on the hips?

With the waist belt, you should be able to distribute the weight to your hips. So I thought that the trailblazer had a hip strap also? Maybe try moving your shoulder straps up, and tighten up the belt strap to sit above your hips a little, not so much dead center.

Awesome DSLR Camera Pack

By:
April 1, 2009

I wanted a pack that I could use while hiking and mountain biking that would hold my DSLR camera. This pack had all the room that I needed and more. The side pockets hold my flash and camera lenses perfectly. The main compartment holds the camera body and plenty of other things. The smaller front pockets has enough room for filters and lens cleaners. The compression straps keep everything nice and tight so nothing will rattle around. Really a perfect hydration bag!

To answer your question, timdonaldson, the layer separating those two compartments actually has a layer of plastic embedded in between the material so no moisture will make it through.

Superb product from Camelbak, just the right size to carry more gear and an extra pair of T shirts, shorts and socks. The two pockets at each side are really useful an handy for energy bars, tools and other small items.
Great product and impecable delivery by Backcountry.

Nick, your review caught my eye b/c I am looking for a combo hydra/dslr pack. Is there ample separation between the water sleeve and the main compartment? I'm always worried about drips and condensation getting too close to my camera.
