The Classic Cap replaces the top on any Camelbak hard bottle (and most other standard 63-mm bottles as well). A durable integrated handle makes it easy to carry or clip to your pack.

simple is better

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I don't like the maintenance of cleaning the straws or flip tops that the new lids all seem to have so just stocked up on these so hopefully I won't have to for awhile :). Otherwise this lid is pretty straightforward. Simple screw top+easy access = happy camper.

Simpler is better.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Like many on here, bought the Classic cap as a replacement for the Eddy cap. Love the simplicity of the Classic. Easier to clean, no fear of spillage and much easier to drink out of. Never loved the bite valve/straw original Eddy cap as I felt flow of sippage was a little low for my taste. I also had to be more thorough in cleaning it-- breaking down the cap, straw and bite valve, etc. Once had something growing in the bite valve (promptly cleaned). This was the obvious solution and wish these came standard with the Eddy’s. It screws on/off and it just works, done. In an era when we try to add too many new features it is clear, simpler is sometimes just better.

Good if you don't like bite valves

Make sure you tighten it good. There seems to be a initial tight and then a sealed tight. It leaked on me one day when I had only tightened it to the first point. (and was lying on it side)

Great Cap

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have never had a problem with the lids with a straw since I wash them a couple times a week but I did buy a couple of these to replace the lids on my Nalgene bottles as I like these better and occasionally use them with my better bottles and eddys when they're going to spend a lot of time in my pack.

Necessary for most backcountry use

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

A simple leakproof lid that should come stock. The straw setup grows stuff and is hard to clean when backpacking or traveling, and this pretty much fixes the issue. The extra leverage from the lip is nice when stuff gets jammed in.

Needed the cap, as the old one was awful

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Needed it based purely on necessity. Didn't want my fuel for a quick run to keep jumping out so I wouldn't shrivel into an old man! I can now enjoy a great drink without all the crap that had been growing!
