The CamelBak Bottle with Big Bite Valve moves well on the go. Get the convenience of your CamelBak bite valve on an easy-to-open water bottle that won't splash you in the face. The Big Bite Valve folds down and snaps in place while in your backpack or bike cage. Tip it over and shake it up, the leak-proof CamelBak Bottle with Big Bite Valve goes in the dishwasher, and the top transfers to any, standard-size bottle. The carrying handle on the CamelBak Bottle with Big Bite Valve makes it a cinch to hold with your finger or clip on a carabineer.
Bottom Line: CamelBak moves from hands-free to hands-on hydration with the Bottle with Big Bite Valve.
OK. So I bought this today THEN read the review from "bryantpierpont" that says it's not BPA-free. Several were Recycle sign #7, but I got one with an #8. Label said it was not only BPA-free but also phthalate-free. Is it or isn't it, and how do you know for sure? Thanks!
I've been a Nalgene die hard for my water bottles for years, but after a friend gave me a 'Better Bottle' a couple of years ago I'm fully converted to Camelbak for all my hydration packs + bottles. They never leak, they don't break, and it's easy to access. For those that are environmentally-conscious, the Better Bottle is transitioning to be 'BPA-free.' Camelbak hopes this rolling transition will be completed before July '08. Personal favourite colours: ocean, fire, and green.

Wow. We just purchased upgrades to our old camping equipment and of all the items we ordered, our 4 CamelBak bottles have been used constantly. We have 2 boys (6 and 2). Whether we're camping, going to swim meets, soccer games, road trips, these bottles are indispensable. You can place them anywhere in any position and they don't leak. No need to open tops and take a sip that inevitably spills all over. When we stop at gas stations, the kids want us to pour the cold water from the bottles we buy into the CamelBak. Needless to say, my wife and I really like these as well and they are dishwasher safe. What's more to say?
It works! Drop it, hold it upside down, it doesn't leak and is great when your boyfriend is sick in bead with the flu. Definitely recommend washing afterwards, though!
I received these bottles and noticed that they looked identical to the polycarbonate bottles, down the the "PC" stamp on the bottom. I contacted Camelbak and they confirm that Backcountry is shipping polycarbonate bottles and that the BPA-free ones will not be available until May. I hope those customers who already bought these and are under the impression that you are using plastic free from the endocrine disrupting chemical BPA will see this message and take appropriate action. Scary stuff.....
this bottle is very tough and hangs around like a best bud. it is easy to hook it on a finger when getting around, etc. and holds enough fluid for awhile. its weak spot, however, is the pull tab which i had to replace once. camelbak charges for replacements and shipping.
I gave this bottle to my sister who drinks bottled water instead of tap water. She only drinks bottled water with nipples. I don't use it myself; I was trying to save the planet.
Love the bottle! Due to the recent news...am a little worried about the "7" rating on the plastic-cancer-leaching situation.
Also, when washing, to assure a clean mouth piece, I squeeze the sipper part open and put it over one of the dishwasher prongs to allow the water to flow through the mouth piece..and disconnect the straw too.
I've had this cool little bottle for about 7 months now. It's handy for sipping on the go, especially for drinking water while driving without needing both hands to remove a Nalgene top. Downside: it leaks out through the top somehow. If you lay it sideways it will slowly dribble out through the top. It's not coming from the bite valve, so I think it might be coming from the air valve. Not sure. Anyhow, they are still useful, but I can't leave it in my backpack without fear of dampness.
This water bottle is amazing. It's spill and drip proof. My friend didn't believe me so she shook it vigorously and tried to squeeze it, but to no avail. I have gotten so many compliments on it and keep telling people where to get it. It also helps me drink more water since so much comes out at once. I love it!
I've owned 3 bottles, and ran into the same problem all three times. Simple physics apply: thermal expansion. Any time a cold beverage warms, it needs room to expand. With all three of my bottles, if I did not sip for some time, the liquid would eventually force its way up the straw and out the bite valve. Easily remedied if sipped frequently or straw is not used. Was really hoping this would work better, because it is so convenient.
All you gotta due is suck on it, just like you do with a Camelbak bladder mouthpiece and the rest is bliss. No more tipping, no more dripping, no more sloppy sipping. Remember when you were a new-born? Same gig. This is a great bedside bottle as well as a hiking, biking and tent bottle. Clean the the drinking tube with water and lemon juice after a camping trip to keep it fresh. As for leakage, well, if anything full of water tips over, including us old folks, there's gonna be some leakage. Just stay upright and you'll be good.
This water bottle is nice! Once that lid is closed the bite valve will never spill any liquid out if tipped over. Great bottle for biking, hiking, or just taking to work/school. Handle is a good touch to clip on a backpack or just carry around. "Hydrate or die."
After purchasing this item for my 6 yr.old son I realized this bottle was made from polycarbonate plastic #7, the kind that leaches bisphenol A! I will not be using it. Aside from that, the water did not come out fast enough for him to encourage him to drink more water. Overall, not a good choice for young children and the health conscious.
This is a wonderful bottle! The bite valve is a great feature, I also really like that you can use the straw or remove it and tip the bottle to drink. And, it comes in a variety of bright colors!
We love our water bottles. The local volleyball coach got one for each team member and had them personalized. I gave them out for Christmas presents. They are great for traveling and can also hold hot beverages too like tea. They don't leak and are easy to take care of. Great product
Does the .75 bottle work as it's supposed to? Yes. But so does a $1.50 sports bottle, and it would be a lot easier to clean, with fewer parts to get lost, and no expensive bite valves to replace.
I bought this to get over a $ threshold to receive free shipping. Wouldn't buy another.
Decent enough on this bottle. It's small enough to fit in the cup holder of my car and it's great to have at work, easy to drink out of. However, if it falls off your car or you drop it onto something really hard it may start to leak which is a bummer. Otherwise it is top notch.
I drink so much water while I'm at work now with this water bottle. it doesn't spill ever and the top fits on regular wide-er mouthed nalgene bottles if you want a bigger bottle. totally worth it.
For the first month I used this- I couldn't believe it didn't leak. It's super convenient to flip the stem and be drinking (great for driving). I've had it tip over in my bag and not leak... until the day that I started putting soda in it. Just don't do it. I've tested this a few times- and if there's anything carbonated in it, it will leak even standing upright. Crazy. Otherwise, an excellent waterbottle to add to your arsenal- I'd recommend it.
