Description

Built for the true road warrior.

If your season consists of traveling from one snowboarding locale to the next in search of contests, rails, or powder, and your summers are just a search for the endless winter, then the Burton Wheelie Locker is the bag for you. With tons of storage space and features designed to make the hassle of traveling with snowboard gear easier, you could pack the Wheelie Locker up on the first snowfall and not have to restock it until the summer thaw.

The fully padded Double Deck construction allows you to keep your main board with bindings on in the top compartment while you stash your backup decks in the bottom half. Thanks to the Double Down system, you can actually separate the two compartments to beat airline weight restrictions. Smooth-rolling Ixion skate wheels and a Comfort Cush retractable handle make it easy to lug around from the airports of Austria to the streets of Japan.

  • Double Down bag separation system
  • External storage pockets
  • Double Deck padded construction
  • Comfort Cush telescoping handle
  • Lockable zipper pulls fit TSA-approved locks
  • Ixion wheel system

Here's what others have to say...

What size is most preferable? Is bigger better?

Best Answer Responded on

Rule Number 1: Bigger is always better.
- Barney Stinson
Just kidding. It definitely depends on the gear you're hauling around! It needs to be long enough for your board/skis... Grab a longer length and you will have more than enough room for boots, clothes, etc. And this one is on wheels so it won't even be too much of a mission to drag it around.

Also you should note that the bags sizes are smaller than the "actual" size of the bags.

For example, the burton 156 bags can fit up to 159 cm. This is important because a lot of airlines like to charge extra charges for oversize bags and every cm is going to count. If you an fit into a smaller bag, I would advise going smaller. That should take care of your lengthwise. For handling your gear, you should have plenty of interior space left to haul all your gear.

Yeah it's got wheels, they're great, but why give $$$ to airlines when you can save it for a new gear or booze instead?

^ Definitely a good point here! I have a 170cm bag and my 175 skis fit just perfectly. I'm not sure what the airline standard is for oversize, but every ski/snowboard bag I have ever travelled with has been considered "oversize" and I have to pick it up over in that section with the rest of the ski/sb gear bags. Definitely check with whatever airline you use the most! I usually fly Delta - looks like their limit is 80 inches before they charge you - probably why I have not had the unpleasant experience of overside baggage fees! American Airlines says 62 inches... Good point!

It's about 15 lbs when I weighed it. The UPS ship said 14.7 lbs, so perhaps my scale isn't terribly accurate.

Laura,
The Burton Wheelie Locker is the Ford Excursion of board bags. You can fit two full ski or snowboard setups in there with all of your ancillary gear. The only other bag I would suggest you size up before buying is the Rome Cache Snowboard Bag.

Best value for the buck

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Even though I'm not a fan of Burton's boards, bindings or boots, the other gear is simply awesome. Same goes with this Wheelie Locker. I've seen and tested other bags, but this one is by far the best in terms of quality build and durability.
I have tons of gear and EVERYTHING fits inside and amazingly there's still room for more.
Definitely recommend!

Alex,

I've looked at inventory and it looks like we have a few more sizes coming, but the arrival dates are not set in stone.

We've ordered and should be getting the following sizes:
156cm
166cm
181cm

Torn apart by the airline, buying again!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My board bag was torn apart by an airline while transporting a few boards. All of my boards made it to my destination in one piece except for one. While one board was trashed, the others were still held inside the bag and were protected. It even kept my bindings and other gear inside and wasn't missing anything! The bag did the job, the airline paid for another board and bag. Just keep your receipts for proof of purchase in case you want them to pay you for it!
