Description

Pack this bag for a quick snow-shredding getaway.

Stuff your snowboard gear into the Burton Wheelie Flight Deck Luggage, and take off for a quick pow-hunting mission. Volume-enhancing CRAM zones around the zippers allow for overstuffing when you pick up an extra magazine and snacks for the flight, and front pockets make it easy to access your wallet and boarding pass. Strap your daypack to the main compartment with the Hideaway Snakestack attachment. The Wheelie Flight Deck meets most airline carry-on restrictions, and a removable storage section lets you keep your essentials close at hand after you store the main bag in the overhead compartment. This product is available for US shipment only. - Fall 2008.

Here's what others have to say...

Fits 3 of 4 overhead bins, rugged, and rolls smooth.

Before purchasing this bag I tried a number of cheaper knock-off brands you can purchase at TJ Maxx, Kohls, etc. None of them combined clever organization, smooth rolling, efficient use of space, and durability like this bag.

I've made multiple trips from Utah to New England and carried more than enough gear for a week at home (with some recycling of shirts). Stuffed a suit coat, two pairs of shoes, all my wedding gear, and enough casual clothes for a couple of changes... plus my laptop, and it was a piece of cake loading the plane.

Of the four different airlines I've flown this bag fit in the overhead bins of three in the standard (wheels towards the outside of the plane) fashion. One airline (US Air?) had bins that were about an inch and a half too short so I had to ninja this thing in sideways.

Wheels roll smooth, handle extends easily without trouble. Telescoping aluminum sections felt a bit shaky at first but I just tightened things up with a screwdriver and no issues since.

Individual packing compartments have a black mesh cover that zips over each half to keep your gear from falling out when you open the Flight Deck up clamshell style. 'CRAM' zones truly work, and allow you to fit in an extra shirt or maybe a book that wouldn't have otherwise made the cut.

I'm sold, I'll buy another if this one ever bites the dust.

Flight Deck

I just bought another Wheelie Flight Deck. They are the best bags ever. With the airline charges I use this bag almost exclusively when I travel know. I took a trip to Kauai/Maui and fit dress clothes, beach attire, and mask fins and snorkel gear!

Best bag ever

This was the best bag I have ever bought. It works great. It has lots of space to cram stuff. I love the little bag that comes with it too. You can fit a laptop in it perfectly. And it works for carry on with most airlines. If you want a bag that is cute, very functional, quiet (rolling), and great carry on. This is the bag to get.

Best overhead wheeled bag I've found

I had used an excellent Victorinox wheelie for a few years until my girlfriend got a Flight Deck. After borrowing hers on a couple flights, I had to get my own. Why is it the best? 1) Super space-efficient, due to compact telescoping handle and squared off corners (whereas my Victorinox and others, including the new Timbuk2 travel bags, are rounded and don't take advantage of the full size allowed by the airlines). 2) Excellent Burton construction. 3) Great little pockets and general layout.

Does anyone know whether this bag will fit into the typical overhead compartment on like a 737, A319/320, etc. with the top facing out like you're supposed to? Or do you have to turn it sideways and eat up the whole overhead space? Thanks!

Responded on

I've used my girlfriend's Flight Deck on a couple flights and have been able to fit it in the overhead as you described, not turned sideways. You might run into an issue on the smallest jets, but it seems like many size-compliant overhead bags have trouble on those planes.
