Supermodel Snowboard

Rip the biggest, steepest gnar with the supreme handling and technical performance of the Burton Supermodel Snowboard. The Powder Fly II wood core absorbs the chatter, and it includes Carbon I-Beam reinforcements to increase handling for a precision ride. Burton designed the Supermodel Snowboard with a directional, tapered shape and short 2.5cm stance setback to give you float in the fluff and still allow you to land switch when you huck a cornice. This state-of-the-art ride also includes a ridiculously fast Sintered WFO base to keep you hauling when you break out of the steeps and rip across a wide-open bowl. New this year, Burton added an ICS mountain system to give you nearly limitless stance options whether you go with regular or EST bindings. *We can't control which color base you get. But we're confident you'll dig it. **Winter 2008 STYLE/COLOR** Fall 2008.

Bottom Line: Rip the biggest, burliest line you can find.

Without much effort at all, you will cruise groomers like a luxury yacht in the Mediterranean, float in powder like you're in some sort of dream-like state, and maintain control AND speed on steeps. This is an excellent board.

When it comes to extremely steep windblown terrain, this board may begin to show a bit of weakness. You may find yourself wishing the Supermodel was just a bit stiffer at those times.

I disagree with the other assessment of this board that is only ideal in 4-16 inches of powder. I've ridden this board in over 30 inches of Utah powder and it performed like a dream. Another reviewer said to go with the Custom or Malolo... I would respond by saying, one, I don't want to buy two Burtons, and two, in reference to powder, the Supermodel outperforms both the boards.

In summary, you will love this board, especially if you get it for a 10-15% discount. Bring a cellphone to the mountain - you might lose your friends due the speed on groomers and ability to handle untracked powder and conditions that you only dream about in your deepest sleeps.

HOLY SNOW BWALLS!

one word....AMAZING! I've rocked a supermodel 63 for several years now, and by far this is the best long board I've ever owned. I've had the best, most memorable pow days on this board, it's just ridiculous. Super responsive when your maching through the trees, and is effortless one those huge blue bird days...I love it so much (now that it's so beat up), I'm going to paint a scenery piece on it and mount to my wall!! hahaha. You need to have one of these in your life...do it.

Which board is better: the Supermodel or the Supermodel X? I

Which board is better: the Supermodel or the Supermodel X? I love riding pow but due to my current location (Europe) I'm riding mostly groomers these days. I need a board that will perform on hard pack but on those infrequent pow days I want a board that can handle the deepness, especially high water content pow. I've ridden the Custom X before and loved it on groomers but found it a bit too stiff for tight turns in the woods or in deep pow. So which board would handle both conditions best?

Well the Supermodel X has pretty much the same core setup as the custom X. So it will ride much stiffer than the regular supermodel. If you want something to handle all conditions, stick with the regular supermodel, it will be much more forgiving.

Supermodel

This board is crazy fast, and carves crazy smooth. My buddy has one and let me try it out and I was able to carve through the snow like never before. The Supermodel has so much control and is a super fast ride. This is definitely a very nice board and you won't be disappointed in it.

What is the difference between freestyle and freeride?

What is the difference between freestyle and freeride?

freestyle boards are generally twin tip boards and softer. Twin tip meaning the nose and the tail are the same shapes and lengths. Freeride boards are generally stiffer and have a directional shape. Directional meaning the nose is a little bit bigger than the tail. This is generally done so the board will float better in powder

been riding supermodel 175cm for 8yrs. east coast rider, handles mash potato pow, ice and groomers no problems. Been in deep pow in whistler back country heli boarding no problems there, been in colorado rockies handles pow there also. Awsome board in the tree's and bumps can't go wrong perfect all mountain board. Only thing that pisses me off they won't make it bigger. Everything is getting shorter.

Super, Thanks for Asking

This is my first full season on this board (08 model) and I am way into it. It's fast and it can handle pretty much every type snow. One negative is that the top-sheet scratches way to easily, but then again, this is board is meant for the mountain, not the living room.

pow pow powder board

This is easily my favorite piece of gear I own...because if I'm riding it then the snow is good. I find the Supermodel to be ideal for any depth of snow...it rips on the groomers, but really shines in the powder....4", 12" 24"....doesn't matter. I've shralped this thing in chest deeep snow before. Delicious.

For me, the 10mm of taper is perfect... I still feel comfortable getting in the air and landing on it, but it turns on a dime when I'm romping a top-secret tree stash. I personally love the stiffness...if you have too stiff of a board in the powder it makes it harder for the nose to stay on top of the snow. My buddies are always getting pissed at me because i totally drop them once we hit the flats at the bottom of a run...the base on this thing is really, really fast.

With the 10mm of taper, fast but thirsty WFO base and the great shape this board moves. Screams on groomers and great for mid depth powder. 4-16in

Lame

Lame. Buy a custom/x or the malolo. This board is halfway in between, its not great for groomers yet not great for powder. Just kinda works for both
