Bringing tomorrow's tech to today's freestyle riders, the Burton SL-8 Boot's minimalist design represents the ultimate in lightweight, efficient construction. Built around an articulated cuff design, the shell's upper and lower halves flex independently to create fluid forward flex, making the SL-8 as comfortable in the park as it is hitting kickers or riding soft snow in the backcountry. To minimize toe and heel drag Burton built the SL-8 around its own unique last to create a smaller footprint. The lightweight, low-profile outsole incorporates a hidden midsole for a lowered center of gravity, enhanced board feel and energetic power transfer. Though it's a pared down freestyle boot, don't assume the SL-8 is short on comfort. Burton's Speed Zone lacing system makes it easy to customize your fit and provides better heel lock than any other lacing system. The molded tongue is gel-lined, and Burton makes the Imprint 4 liner with Outlast adaptive technology; it will mold to your foot after a few days on the mountain, improving the fit and comfort.

Bottom Line: Advanced performance for serious freestyle riders.

For my feet, this boot is perfect. It’s fairly light, excellent support but not too stiff where you loose feel for your board. Not too bulky. Inner cuff seals around your ankles; no heel lift or that feeling like you're swimming in your boots. It has decent traction for hiking too.

Burton's highest-end boot

Very comfortable. The soles have excellent traction (makes getting off the lifts easier). They reduced my toe and heel overhang - a huge plus. The lacing system is wonderful although it creates a spaghetti affect when laced (total of 3 laces that need to be tucked into the top part of the boot). They increased my control over the board phenomenally, although that's probably due to the fact that my old pair were too big. I'm glad I bought them. P.S. They look really good too!

The boots are designed well, with some great materials and features. I demoed a pair at Kirkwood for a day before I committed to buying them. When I received the boots, I took them to a local shop to have the liners heat molded, and when I was cinching them up for the fitting the laces ripped in two on the lower zone—on both boots. I weigh 175lb and am not a muscle head. The RAF insert did not fit in one of the boots, and the tongues on the liners where different lengths, which was noticeable when leaning toeside. I think that someone put a lot of thought into these boots, but that the shop in China where they are built does not have the same attention to detail. Burton had replacement boots to me in just over a week from when I sent them back. When I emailed Burton about the issues, they did not respond to any of my concerns with the build quality.
I expect a lot from a pair of snowboard boots that are this expensive, I hope they deliver.
