Description

A tough exterior with a soft, sensitive side.

In the Burton Women's Scarlet Jacket, a sculpted, feminine silhouette comes together with a sturdy shell material reminiscent of a military jacket. Further balancing sophisticated charm with mountain-worthy technical fixings, the Scarlet Jacket uses Burton's DryRide Durashell waterproof material, body-mapped Thinsulate insulation, and removable faux-fur trim on the hood to set off the look.

The waterproof breathable DryRide Durashell membrane and taped critical seams hold off light rain and snow. Lightweight Zonal Thinsulate synthetic insulation places more insulation in the body and less in the sleeves. The fixed hood is fully adjustable and helmet-compatible. The powder skirt can be removed on hardpack days and includes an interface that allows you to attach the jacket to compatible Burton pants. Zippered, mesh-lined underarm vents allow you to dump heat quickly so you don't burn up while you ride. For the final touch, Burton included a plethora of item-specific pockets to keep your essentials close at hand and keep you organized.

  • DryRide Durashell membrane (10K/10K), taped critical seams
  • Thinsulate synthetic insulation (60g body, 40g sleeves)
  • Sig fit
  • Zippered, mesh-lined underarm vents
  • Removable powder skirt with jacket interface
  • Fixed adjustable hood
  • Sound pocket, goggle pocket, flash pass pocket, ATM pocket, interior stash pocket

Gifted

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift

Bought this for my niece who is 5'5 and purchased a large, which is the size that fit her the best when we took her to the store to check out sizing. The jacket is a little long on her, but for the size we had to buy vs. her height, that is fine. Hopefully she grows a little more and it fits her better length wise!

Awesome

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift
  • Fit: True to size

I bought this (huntsmen plaid) for my girlfriend and she loves it. It's not super warm by itself, but then again it's a snowboarding jacket and it's really not meant to be THAT warm. It's got tons of pockets but doesn't look bulky - it looks really good. Sizing is pretty normal, not loose, and it seems pretty flexible. The fur around the hood is removable as well, if it gets in the way at all.

IF YOU LIVE UP NORTH

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I absolutely loved this jacket when I opened it up yesterday. But when I put it on I realized that its not going to cut it for Maine's chilly winters. It's super cute and functional but not thick enough for early December weather in Maine; it only gets colder from here! So if you live in California and its not nearly as cold as it gets way up here in the corner of the US, I'm sure this is the perfect jacket for you.

Have you worn it riding yet? I just bought this jacket, I'm in Maine too. I have other Burton jackets that are pretty thin and with the right base layer and mid layer the are pretty warm.
