S-Series Split Snowboard - 09/10

The Burton S-Series Split Snowboard has been the go-to choice for serious backcountry riders since it's beginnings, and this season hasn't changed the facts. Unlike other split boards that take after skis for their flex, Burton made this one to actually ride like a board (a bad-ass big-mountain-line destroying board). The S-Series takes a standard Voile split binding setup (sold separately) for flawless function back in the hills. While this board features a slightly tapered shape, it comes with a twin flex to let you ride switch when you need to.

Bottom Line: Lift tickets are too spendy anyway.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

You can ski 'em. But other than those long approaches with lots of rolling terrain, you wouldn't want to. I've seen guys rip tele-turns on splitters just to prove it can be done.

You can meadowskip all day though, and if you do alpine turns (carefully, there's no way to lock your heel down) you do indeed have a shaped edge to turn off of on your downhill foot.

No. The bindings aren't set up for that, the edges aren't parabolic, and the points will dig in. Terrible idea.

this board rules. burton has always been the goto company for snowboard innovations — no different in the case of splitboarding (with the exception of their phased out attempt of splitboard bindings). :) in any case, this board rides like the description says, "Burton made this one to actually ride like a board." it was manufactured to work seamlessly with the Voile Universal Splitboard Interface — work together like a charm. on the way down it feels no different than riding a regular snowboard. on the way up....well, it's awesome.

Does it come with skins? I'd presume not since it's not in the description, split hardware? Slider Plates? Slider Pucks?

The price is great, and I'd try out a burton split for sure, but it would help to know what you actually get.

It doesn't say that at all in the description. This is as close as it gets and it's quite vague: " The S-Series takes a standard Voile split binding setup (sold separately)"

I was asking an honest question before dropping 7 bills on a splitboard and have been splitting for several years, your tone is neither helpful NOR appreciated. Thumbs down!!!

It says right in the description that the Voile split kit is sold separately... "it would help to know what you actually get", it would help if you actually read the description.
