Traditional snowboard design dictates that freeride boards should be stiff, unfriendly planks that prefer carving turns to spinning off cornices. Burton turns the concept of a big-mountain board upside down with the all-new Root Snowboard, featuring the cutting-edge Nug Raduction technology that lets you downsize your board by up to 10cm without compromising high-speed control or deep-snow float.

  • Nug Raduction technology uses a wider shape, longer effective edge, and extended contact points for big-board stability with short-board maneuverability (downsize 8-10cm from your normal board size)
  • Flat Top profile uses a large stable flat zone with rocker in the tip and tail for a floaty, forgiving ride that still feels solid at speed
  • Squeezebox core profiling offers more effective longitudinal energy transfer for bigger ollies with less effort
  • Slightly tapered shape (5mm) for effortless float in deep snow and quicker edge-to-edge transitions
  • Triax fiberglass for a responsive ride that still feels playful
  • Side Effects lengthen your contact points for more surface area and better float in deep snow
  • Frostbite Edges extend slightly out from binding-mount zones for predictable, powerful grip in all snow conditions
  • The Channel mounting system allows infinite stance options and a more natural flex

Fun all mountain wizard

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Really fun board for trees, pow, and all mountain riding. Surprisingly stable at high speeds with little chatter. Feels a little stiffer than what the rating of this board says. I have a 144 and it feels like I'm riding a 152. Only con with this board is the lack of pop, but that is due to the flat top shape of this board. This board was so fun that I bought two of them! It can handle everything you throw at it.

Feel Rooted in Ice, Pow, Park

Amazing, amazing, amazing. I have been riding old Burton Boards, DC's MLF and Capita's Indoor Survival but the Root is by far the best board I've ever ridden. I love how short, 152 cm, it is ( I am 6'1", 190 lbs) yet it is also super stable at high speeds. When I want it spins like a maple seed. Since I use Flow bindings I was put off by the channel system for a long time but I found the converter channel disk made by Flow on ebay. Now I wonder why I ever left Burton. I LOVE this board.

    Short board wizard

Short board turned powder hound. The Root has Nug Reduction allowing you to ride 8-10cm smaller than your normal length board. Flattop board bend allows the board to float in the powder while being super staple due to a longer effective edge and Side Effects.
