Head from the resort to downtown without changing jackets.

Get streetwear style with resort function in the Burton Penelope Women's Snowboard Jacket. The heathered twill fabric has a subtle denim look to it and repels snow and water in harsh conditions so you stay dry and warm whether you're searching for untracked pow or après drink specials. Burton's slim fit is more tailored with a slightly shorter body length than it's Sig fit.

The Penelope jacket provides a versatile helping of chilly weather protection. The waterproof breathable DryRide Durashell membrane holds off light rain and snow. Light Zonal Thinsulate synthetic insulation places more insulation in the body and less in the sleeves. The fixed hood is fully adjustable and helmet-compatible. The powder skirt can be removed on hardpack days and includes an interface that allows you to attach the jacket to compatible Burton pants. Zippered, mesh-lined underarm vents allow you to dump heat quickly so you don't burn up while you ride. For the final touch, Burton included a plethora of item-specific pockets to keep your essentials close at hand and keep you organized.

  • DryRide Durashell membrane (10K/10K)
  • Thinsulate synthetic insulation (60g body, 40g sleeves)
  • Slim fit
  • Zippered, mesh-lined underarm vents
  • Removable powder skirt with jacket interface
  • Fixed adjustable hood

Great mid-weight jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Height: 5' 9"
    Size Purchased: large

I bought this jacket to wear XC skiing and on rainy/misty early spring days. I have found that it is perfect with a just a t-shirt underneath and therefore great for transitioning from outside activities to indoor ones. I usually wear a medium, but being familiar with Burton products, I decided to get a large, as I like to layer and the medium would have been too small to do so. It has a nice lining that elevates it's warmth from other shells I've had. It has great style and the gadget elements are nice. I also like the waist gator. It unfortunately doesn't integrate with my burton snowpants, but the waist gator makes up for this. Overall, I highly recommend this jacket!

Up to how cold can this jacket provide warmth if I was wearing only a thin down pullover underneath it?

It's minimal insulation, so depending on the down pullover underneath I wouldn't count on it to keep you warm much below 15 or so degrees.

The jacket I typically wear to ride on colder days is 60g polyfill insulation and I have been warm as far down as O degrees F. However, I was born for the cold and have often been found out in the snow in tshirts. I would agree with Angus and suggest this jacket as a jacket you get for cold conditions with the intention of layering.
