The Mission Snowboard Binding has been a staple in the Burton lineup for years. Every season riders think it’s reached the peak, and every year it gets a little better. This season makes no exception thanks to plush straps, ultralight construction and a unique look that won’t quit.

  • Superstrap ankle strap locks you in without creating pressure points
  • Smooth glide buckle technology saves time while you’re strapping in
  • Medium stiffness provides the versatility to handle any terrain
  • Short-glass and nylon composite keep things light and strong

Bottom Line: Shaun White’s binding of choice. What more do you need?

I have these mounted on my Volkl Riot 157, and they are a great match flex wise for my park needs. Torsionaly stiff enough to be responsive, but soft enough laterally to not be a hindrance on rails.
Pretty good everywhere

It should work, but it could be a snug fit depending on the brand of boots you have!

i've got two pairs of these — one for the resort board and one for my splitboard. and with the deals you can find on backcountry and steapand cheep, etc., these can't be beat. not sure all the extras your getting with some of those $450 pair of bindings, but i can't imaging paying that much for bindings. the plush straps are comfy. the cap straps are awesome (could never go back to regular toe straps). these bindings seem to have everything you need for all mountain riding. of course my first set of burton bindings were on my elite 140, and they were just molded plastic high backs with webbing and fastex buckles, so what do i know? :)

great set of bindings

By:
December 31, 2009

The Missions have everything I need in bindings. They are lightweight, they are fairly flexible (the description says medium stiffness), and the straps are very comfortable (although I added the Ultra Capstraps to my bindings). Overall, just a great set of bindings - definitely better than the Freestyles I started with.

Besides the obvious cost difference, what are the main comparison points between the Missions / Customs and the Cartels. Am I going to see a large spread of performance? or is it mainly just customization?

In the Cartel you have a taller, more ergonomic highback. This alone is a huge difference along side the stronger ratchets, and B3 cushioning gel in the heel. The Cartel also has a flex of 7 where the mission is 5. so it is more responsive and fullbed cushioning.

Whats the difference between the newer models and my mission

Whats the difference between the newer models and my mission bindings from 2003 with the toe cap? Trying to decide whether to keep using my old ones on a new lib tech trs btx or buy a new pair.

The largest difference come in trickle down technology from better bindings and material construction.

These bindings are similar to a Cartel or better from 2003: More comfortable straps, better cushioning under foot, a more grippy cap strap, a better high back with more precise forward lean adjustment, tool-free strap adjustment, better buckles... All and all, the bindings have a had quite a few upgrades over the years.

The most similar part is the short-glass polycarbonate construction. Better/slightly lighter materials have been used but its a similar feel.

I am looking for the right Burton Snowboard binding. I have a wide Burton board. I have size 14 feet, and like to carve. I am generally looking for stiffness. What's the best binding?

Mission is a medium flexing binding. You may want to check out the Burton CO2, C60, or Cartel.

You should get on Live Chat and ask about that, I've done so in the past and gotten items matched. It really depends on what Backcountry paid for them in the first place.
