Malolo Snowboard - 09/10

If you want a board that surfs powder like a swallowtail but doesn’t limit your style to straight forward, the Burton Malolo is your board. Burton designed this versatile stick with big-mountain and backcountry freestyle in mind, incorporating rocker and early taper in the nose with regular camber and sidecut under a setback stance. The result is a deck that pops to the surface of untracked pow, turns crud to butter, and yet still has the ability to float a windlip 5.

  • S-Rocker gives you the float of reverse camber without sacrificing edge hold on hardpack
  • The Channel insert for direct, infinitely adjustable binding-to-board connection, compatible with Burton 3D and EST bindings
  • Powder Fly nose and Negative Core Profile for light weight and softer, fatigue-reducing flex

Bottom Line: One board for big days, and the whole week after.

I rocked this board all season long and the Burton Co2's performed best for me. They provide the perfect blend of response and comfort. I also rode this setup with the 32 lashed and Burton SLX's. The SLX's are expensive but worth every penny.

I would suggest some cartel EST's (however, any EST bindings will help you maximize board flex and feel) -- Boots are all about comfort. Something medium flexing would match up perfectly so you could drive turns but still have enough movement in them to navigate tree sections. I would suggest a Burton Ion or Ruler!

SAY YES to the LOLO!!

I got this Board after a 30 inch dump on top of 16 inch wind buffed pow. I rode my Custom X that day and even with the Bindings all the way back, it was still just a snow plow.
Got the Malolo and it exceeded my expectations. I ride a 164 W CusX and got the 166 LOLO-
Amazing speed and feel and the S rocker really keeps the nose up and floating.
I even like it on the groomers and this thing has pop on the jumps--- not boxes or rails-
If you like to Bomb the mountain and do HIGH speed carves on the groomers or pow this is your new favorite board.
i have EST cartels and i put them almost all the way back. It helps me negotiate through the trees and in the steep chutes.

SICK Board- makes the CustomX crap the bed.

Can you legitimately pair this board with flow bindings?

Not at this time.

You would not want to as the performance gains you will get out of riding an EST binding on this are unparalleled. After on this one day with EST/Channel combo you will understand why Burton's pro's are demanding this tech in all their HG gear!

BANGER!

Excellent power board

I have this board in a 158cm. I'm 5'2" and 150. It has a wider nose that stays up beautifully in deep light powder. It also cuts through crud and windblown snow better than expected. You don't burn out your rear leg like you would on a board with a more centered stance. You have a fairly unlimited stance option on this board much like other Burtons. You can carve it up in the corduroy as well, just make sure your edges are fairly sharp in the even you have to travel over any ice as this board doesn't have a very deep side cut.

To Answer your questions:

Can I only ride this board with Burton bindings?

NOPE, ANY FORUM DISK BINDING WILL FIT ON IT... BUT TO OPTIMIZE THE RIDE YOU SHOULD GET SOME EST BURTON BINDERS AS IT CHANGES THE WHOLE FLEX AND FEEL OF THE BOARD FOR THE BETTER

Can I use it with my older 3d disc?

YOU CANNOT USE YOUR OLDER 3-D DISKS. HOWEVER, THE BOARD SHIPS WITH A PAIR OF NEW TWO-HOLE DISKS THAT CAN BE RETRO-COMPATIBLE WITH ANY PREVIOUS YEAR BURTON BINDING. SO YOUR OLD BURTON BINDINGS WILL WORK FINE!

Does it come with a uni-disc that I can use with my older Burton bindings?

NO UNIDISKS... JUST THE TWO-HOLE DISKS.

BY THE WAY.. THIS BOARD IS INSANE! MY POW / BIG MOUNTAIN BOARD OF CHOICE!
